I've been feeling a bit down lately, and I was wondering what you guys do to take your minds off of things. Unfortunately, I tend to dwell on the causes of my bad moods, so I'm curious about others' methods of cheering themselves up. Usually I read books or watch a movie or something, but those things are starting to get repetitive.
Any suggestions?

Welllll...since you ruled out one option, the other things I do are calling someone I like talking to - preferably someone who thinks I am good to talk to, too.
Also, a tiny random flirt/infatuation is a good mood lifter. Friendship sites are ideal for that. Apart from that, physical activity and also this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5P6UU6m3cqk Yes, I know it is silly but watch it and tell me it doesn't make you laugh at least a little bit. |

So my solution typically envolves just getting out of the place then just about anything else will serve its purpose. Typicall best remedy is to find some live music. Nothing like a group of people enjoying the community and music together.
EDIT: And yes video of cute innocent laughing babies would also help a good bit, thank you Sugark. Whoever thought up original sin never saw a lauging baby I guess
EDIT 2: Another excellent Lauging Baby video The best is the one baby not laughing just chilling with his thumb in his mouth. Wonder who the black sheep will be.

laughing babies gotta love em. Though its much more fun with my 8month old son.
Generally, when people feel down, they are focusing on themselves alot. While this is a good thing, like all things it needs to be done in moderation.
Do something for somebody else. Even if its just putting a quarter in a meter that is about to expire.
Flirt with a stranger. Even though I am married its still fun.
Play an insturment. Piano, Clarinet, Kazoo whatever.
In general, DO something. Anything. Just move.
Best cure for depression I ever heard. Move more; Worry Less.

Edited by: KingsGambit on 01/04/2009 14:46:24 I have some suggestions, but sadly they're all either prohibitively expensive or generally conisdered inappropriate in most polite societies
But as for other suggestions...there are any number of ways to take your mind of things. I personally love reading and movies, both of which you weren't too keen on. But you can also consider a video game perhaps, get immersed in another story for a time. Also, and forgive me if this sounds silly, but doing puzzles is a good way too. If you have any hobbies or things you enjoy like playing music, painting, sport, writing, whatever, maybe it's time to spend some more time doing just that. Hope things improve for you soon. -------------

It's just not the best solution in the long run, if you don't want your bank manager to take your house away from you!

I give the horses a brush down. Not only do they love it but I can lose all track of time and before I know it 5 hours has gone by. Or I sit on my homemade porch (A pallet with a carpet stapled to it) with a drink in hand and stare at the scenery. Time stops for me while the world moves on.

Oh come on, ú145 for a GTX 260 is a pretty good price. Besides, it's the first new toy I've bought for myself since I started playing EvE.

If your having bad days often the best thing to do is identify the cause it could be your diet so try taking some vitamins and eating healthier and excessive alcohol or drug use can cause mood swings and lay off the caffeine if you drink lots of coffee or red bull, tiredness is a common cause to and this could be down to needing a new bed or even just have some early nights and light exercise can help even if its just a walk around the park.
Everyone gets ****ed off sometimes but if its happening a lot there is usually some external factor aggravating it.
