Why the drake tank so damn well? I can't get the same results with my brutix, myrm, or even a dominix...

Drake shield: 5469; recharge time: 23 min 20 sec Myrm shield: 3906; recharge time: 23 min 20 sec Domi shield: 5469; recharge time: 41 min 40 sec
Drake shield has a much higher natural shield recharge rate than the others. There's no natural armor recharge rate, so you have to depend on armor mods for your armor tankers, which means the Drake gets kind of a double bonus to shield recharge - one natural, the other from mods.

The Drake has several advantages to its tank that allows it to be so good.
First off the Drake and BCS's in general have a good base passive shield regen. Add in the fact that a Drake also gets a shield resist bonus per level of BCS skill trained and it gets even better. Higher resists are always a good thing
The Drake's second advantage is that its main weapon system (missiles) and secondary (5 light drones) are capless weapons so the Drake doesn't have to worry about fitting Cap mods, which frees up spots compared to Ravens and armor tanking ships. This allows the Drake to fit Shield Power Relays since it doesn't need to rely on its cap very much.
The Drake also has enough grid to fit a few Large Shield Extenders and also has 3 rig slots it can dedicate to its tank as well. All of which make the base regen of the shield even better.
All of this results in high resists and high passive shield regen amount, but it comes at a cost. If you go all out on the shield tank, you will be lacking damage mods, namely low slot Ballistic Control Systems. Missiles themselves have a few knocks against them as well including the fact that NPC ships for PvE all have defender missiles which cuts into the Drake's DPS. The "new missiles" basically suck in a lot of PvP settings and they are not instant damage.
They biggest drawback to a Passive Drake is the fact that you do not hit your optimal regen until you are into the %20 percent range on your shields. If you start taking extra damage you don't have much of a buffer left and you tank will literally disappear on you.
As far as the other BCS's including the Myrm, think outside the box with them and you will be surprised. A passive shield Myrm is actually doable and can make for a nice ship if you have the smarts and skills to use it properly.

Large Shield Extenders are tweaked for battleships, yet they fit nicely on battlecruisers.
Combine this with the lack of penalty to using Shield Power Relays and Core Defence Field Purgers to reduce recharge time and add in the ships inherent resistant bonus and you'll not only know why all battlecruisers can passively shield tank so well but also why the Drake does it better.

Myrmidon can passive tank very nicely aswell due to having 6 low slots for SPR.

There is nothing quite like the drake, and I wonder if it was intended to be able to do what it does.
That said, its a useless brick that sits there and takes punishment when you fit it that way. No mobility. No dps. Your role is to die last when the party wipes, and get left behind when the party runs away. The only point in the fit is taking extreme rat aggro in npc situations.
FCs aren't unhappy to see HAM drakes and some of the other varients. And you can get the same preformance froma a brutix myrm or domi in that regard.
