My industry alt is going to start training to rig up my combat pilot's ships. I want to train up a few to utilize the t2 rigs, but most just to get t1 versions. So which rigs get used a lot? I'm guessing cargo expanding ones are decent. What else?
Thanks!

What rigs you use is going to depend a lot on what kind of ships your combat alt flies. I'm not really sure why you suggested "cargo expanding ones" for a combat pilot. Some rigs I notice getting used a lot on combat ships are:
Armor Tanking: Nanobot Accelerator Auxiliary Pump Trimark Armor Pump
Shield Tanking: Core Defense Field Purger Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer (or other shield resist rigs depending on what you're flying)
Capacitor: Capcitor Control Circuit
I see a number of people who use gunnery rigs as well and there are a large variety of those that boost your damage, ROF, range, optimal, falloff, etc. ----- My Pirate Blog: http://evenewb.blogspot.com/ |

As a Shield Rig, I'd also suggest Core Defence Capacitor safeguard, heavily cutting down the activation cost of Shield Boosters. A lot of passive drakes also fit Core Defense Field Extenders to get more shield HP, thus increasing base shield recharge rate. ----------

To keep running the list he started...
Astrometrics Auxilliary Thrusters Hyperspatial Velocity Optimizer Low-Friction Nozzle Joints
Armor Tanking: Nanobot Accelerator Auxiliary Pump Trimark Armor Pump Salvage Tackle Remote Repair Augmentor
Shield Tanking: Core Defence Field Purger Core Defence Field Extender Core Defence Operational Solidifier Anti-* Screen Reinforcer (They're cheap, armor isn't)
Capacitor: Capcitor Control Circuit Semiconductor Memory Cell (Beats CCC's in the majority of ships) Ancillary Current Router Egress Port Maximizer(Granted narrow use)
As for electronics and electronic superiority they should be pretty narrow and obvious. Parrots, commence!

Thanks a lot guys! I'm going to train up most of these. Is there a market for selling out rigging skills? If I got these skills up to 5, that would be pretty nice as far as reducing the drawback effect. Would people pay for this service? I know I would have to collaterallize the ship and components while I did the work or even use a 3rd party trustee. Or do most people get their rigger skills in what they use?

I underlined two of my favorite rigs, and they're waaaaaay underrated. Also, /parrots :)

Edited by: Tonto Auri on 30/03/2009 20:30:31 Noone listed Cargohold Optimization? :) Strange, strange... Also, Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer is the only good shield resistsnce rig. Everything else is redundant and beated by Invul-II easily. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Core Defence Field Extenders are better then Purgers for PvP :)

Don't tell anyone, but between you and me - they're not mutually exclusive! And there are plenty of ships I'd happily put a anti-kin rig on, vaga/sleip probably being the most known examples. Parrots, commence!

Drawbacks for rigs is determined by the skill of the pilot, not whoever installed them. You can have a rigged ship and not have the rigging skill trained if you got a friend to put it on for you, although in such a case you would suffer the full drawbacks.
You pretty much don't need to train any of the rigging skills to V, III or IV is generally sufficient. |

Actualy EM, Kin, Thermal Resistance Rigs for Shield is a quite deacend combo, only costs you 15 M and increase your Tank by a fair amount in PVP if you don¦t use all your Meds for Tank(gank style buffer tank like on the Brutix or mobile active tank like on the Cyclone). If you do, Solidifier Rigs take over with T2 active Tanks(Mealstorm/Mini Commands) or Extender/Plurger in PVP.
They are quite common in PVP actualy, it¦s the best bag for the buck in many cases, unlike Plurger/Extender Rigs that are better but also far more expensive. There was even a time you got this Rigs for 2 M a pop so you could even rig up T1 Cruisers.
I personly would wellcome if it was the same for the Armor Resistance Rigs(but unfortunaly they need the same expensive Rig Parts like the Trimark\Nano Pump\Accelator Rigs). ---- Nerf Tank - Boost Gank!
