What would cause eve to close automatically after showing the splash screen? I run the program, it puts up the image and shows the program running in task manager, then closes without any messages or anything. Also this only started with the new patch. It even happens when I try safe mode.
I am running 64-bit Windows 7. With a 320mb Nvidia 8800.

I'm having this same issue. Eve displays the splash for a while and then closes. No error messages or anything. I just upgraded my gaming computer and downloaded the Eve client from Steam.

Try updating directx as well as your video and soundcard drivers.
The log window mentions an exception. Can you start up the logserver (there is a logserver.exe in the main EVE dir, open that, open a new logspace, and start the client as normal after that) and copy paste the exception that will be logged there?
You might want to bug report this as well with all the neccesary stuff (logserver file, crashdump, dxdiag). There is a thread on how to file a good bug report stickied in the game development forum. _

This was happening to me last week. I run 2 clients and one night I closed them both simultaneously... Next day I couldnt open them so I reinstalled the game, same problem.
Turned out to be the cache, I cleared the cache and voila the game fired right up. I had to redo all my chats and overviews but hey I gots my eves back. There is a page on how to do this, i dont know if there is info for Windows 7 on there though. =/
Hope this helps.

I've got the same problem but deleting the cache doesn't do it. :(

For some inexplicable reason in Vista, Eve currently likes to start hidden if you habitually use windowed mode. Alt-Enter will restore fullscreen and show the client. You can then go back to windowed mode.
