No.
Character trades would be different if there were eve-mails exchanged confirming of the sale -- but in the case of item auctions (in this case, the nature of Supercapital trading) -- you have to REALLY trust the person, or use a third party to hold the isk.
As far as I know, there is no binding obligation from whatever dialogue the two of you had that lead up to you wiring isk to his account.
Supercapital trading = evemail Chribba

Edited by: Lana Torrin on 25/03/2009 06:22:56 Lol. I read that auction yesterday. Anyone that demands isk up front from chibbypoo is a scammer.
Also, no, your not going to get your isk back as there were no out of game mechanics or exploits used. You decided to send the isk, he simply decided to not uphold his part of the deal. Think of it as a fancy type of freeform scam.

Oh lol... It would seem that your grasp on game mechanics is as poor as your grasp of the English language. GMs won't get you your monies back. Well played Sok.

Nope, all your ISK is gone (unless Sokratesz gives it back to you) and there is nothing the GMs can do for you.

this was a 'auction' without contract...
so if u give someone ur isk ( a quite big amount ) and dont get a trusted 3rd party to hold isk or whatever, then ur pretty much screwd.
so gj sok, keep it up :) --------------------------------------

Well its not like they hold their hands and show them how and stuff, but yeah. If you don't break the EULA then you can scam people.

You sent some dude your isk, because of his "word" on a deal. This isnt CCP's or the GM's responsibility to prevent, or correct afterwards, but your own responsibility.. CCP do not support of condone scamming, they simply allow it to be done.. YOU are solely responsible for who YOU chose to thrust, and spotting potential contract scams.. CCP are not here to make the correct decisions for you, nor clean up the bad ones made..

Character trading involves real money. That is why CCP take such a hard line on it.
In game scamming however, is part of the game and perfectly legitimate. Lark put it quite succinctly. If you've got too much ISK and not enough brains, there will always be someone to correct this error.

Scamming is an endorsed and viable source of income in this game. If you don't mind me asking... Where did you get so much isk without realising this yourself?

Edit: Oh, that means Nexxy that unfortunately your cut is zero.. I'd have mailed it to you, but I thought having it out in the open like this is really the best way. Sorry to have let you down.

That's a negative. From the Sell Order forum rules:
Quote: 16. Trading is not binding, if one party does not honor an agreement made on these forums, ISD or CCP may not be able to help you.

Scamming is a valid game mechanic. (So long as it's not a character trade for non-PLEX GTC trade)

I'm willing to help you with this issue, I've also been scammed by this person and successfully managed to get my ISK returned by the GMs with a legal argument that they didn't want to face.
Please send all the details (including chat logs) you have to me via an EVEmail, I'll also require a 2 Billion ISK returnable deposit to prove that you aren't timewasting. Hopefully we should have a resolution before the end of the week. |

- Client was very eager to get Wyvern - I wasn't intending to scam from the start, but he never mentioned chribba and offered a deposit right away - Client displayed a certain degree of naivety in terms of understanding game mechanics
A golden opportunity, to say so.
I won't bother with the chat logs as they are fairly boring. I just wish to stress that this was a solo action, and that I wasn't representing anyone else other than myself. I have already received communications from Caldari Provisions that they do not condone this behaviour but will not take disciplinary action this time because of my lasting loyalty and service to the Caldari State.
On a last note, I wish to ask the client a question. If I returned the ISK right now, would your feelings towards me remain hostile? If so, you appear to have attached your ego to a 'video game' in a degree that is not deemed healthy by most Psychiatrists, and I would advise professional counselling.

I would like to add one more observation, unrelated to the client, but regarding the entire process. I have noticed a very strong correlation between the degree to which an Eve player knows me and the degree with which they applaud my course of action. It is not quite 100%, but very, very strong indeed.
