Someone have a look at resolving direction scanner issues please - it's most annoying:
1) Headers don't stay in place (are within scroll) 2) sort order not maintained between scans 3) No right click on ships, drones or structures (to add or remove from overview and therefor scan) Thanks

Signed, especially for the right-clicking, that functionality needs to be put back into the all the various scanners and the map.

Please be constructive and file a bug report instead of making a thread with lots of /signed. I love bug reports, please give them to me!

It is actually easier than you think.
My point is that it is everyone's best interest to have a good forum and sticking to the rules is a part of a good forum. Just like using the bug report feature is the best way of giving us the information we need to resolve issues people encounter in EVE.
From the forum rules:
Quote: Petitions or "/signed" posts are a version of bumping and likewise are not permitted

Bug everything really, found one today they said was squashed on SiSi a week before live ... gotta love stressful deadlines ... hahahahaha

I would also like to say that the 5 Degree scan seems to be impossible to have function now. The 15 degree is the only thing that works. The old trick used to be that you click on your ship or press alt to see the box around your ship and then you could put that on and object and get the 5 Degree scan. This no longer works. Now you have to put it in the exact center of the box on the target to get the scan to work.

hard to tell whats a bug and whats intended with you guys patting yourself on the shoulder all day, really especially confusing with this arty bug "thing" everybody except for BHs can reproduce 100% of the time. - putting the gist back into logistics |

I believe this is because the box on some ships is not actually in the centre of the camera, simply zooming out until the box covers your whole ship will put the box in the middle of the camera and thus allow 5 degree scanning.

Doesn't make it any less of a bug.
All it means is that even after several years of Premium, it still hasn't been fixed.

Using the ship bracket as the aim point for your directional scanner is something that people have been doing for a long time on the classic client. When we introduced the premium client it was no longer possible to use this method to aim your directional scanner while zoomed in, since the camera does not center on the bracket. It was, and still is, possible to use it by zooming out from your ship and then using the bracket as the aim point.
If you would like to report this bug, use the bug reporting system and include as much information as possible. This is by far the fastest way to get things resolved. Posting a thread about 3 issues, writing a line on each of them, without using the bug report system will not result in anything but a discussion about the bugs. That discussion will probably end sometime and the thread will become old and the issues forgotten.
If you care enough to post a thread or write a reply to a thread and voice your opinions about a bug on a forum, then you will probably care enough to file a bug report. That is why the bug report system is there and that is why we open up Singularity to players.
I am not saying that we're ignoring what you're writing on the forum. I am saying that using the Bug report system is the superior way to alert us of bugs and to give us enough information about them so that they can be resolved quickly. I am also not saying that discussing bugs on the forum is a bad thing. What is bad is making a thread or replying to a thread about a bug and not filing a bug report about the issue in question.

Sorry, but what if bug reports gone unnoticed? Currently, bug reporting system is kind of throw-out. You throwing bug and hoping it'll fall in proper hands. If bughunters need some more info, they are firced to edit bugreport instead of just writing a note as in normal bugtrackers. -- Thanks CCP for cu |

Edited by: Roemy Schneider on 19/03/2009 17:56:42 look... i have this example where i bug reported the dozens of pointless checkbox options in the scanner filters: structures will never result in 100% results (except for the sys canning array, which has just been made obsolete) - probes, although not probe'able themselves, even have their own group - and lets not forget the stuff that doesnt even exist (proximity drone, unanchoring drone.... etc)
this stuff is _pointless_ beyond compare, even misleading
now edit the following all you want but here's the replies:
// This is By Design // To give you an example, scanning for probes is good when you try to find the spot enemy is using for probing
-> filtered
let's revise... probes do not show up on probe results - at all. from my point of view it's more about not being able to construct (deep) safe spots with a friend
so i open it again
next reply:
// The feature you mention is currently working properly and is not a bug. // I would encourage you to post to the "Features and Ideas" forum: // http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=channel&channelID=3523 // If this is a feature you would like to have added to a future expansion.
-> filtered
that's roughly when i gave up on your in-house mechanics and bug reporting. be that communication, intentions or (ill) will. i'll just continue making threads in GD, having the issue veryfied/signed (or crushed) by the regulars thankyouverymuch - putting the gist back into logistics |

I once bug reported an issue about my global criminal timer not running out. It was reproducible, and there was no way it could have been caused by legit game mechanics (I know how aggression timers work).
The bug report got automatically filtered, because there was no dxdiag file attached.
This was the first and last time I filed a bug report.
I understand that CCP have limited time for bugfixes, and it is most likely they use it for fixing those bugs that get the most attention in the community of players. Therefore it is in every player's best interest to push attention for those bugs that bug us most. And the best place to get attention is the forums.
More bugs in the directional scanner and related to it:
- Wrecks and cans don't show up on scan (again...)
- The interface is less usable and more ugly than before the expansion (what happened to the grid lines in the result table?)
- There is no way to center the view on your ship on the solar system map (unless you use camera tricks with probes, you can't use the directional scanner on the map)
Oh, and I've so had it with the center-of-ship axis thing. I agree with the CCP guy above: If it was an unintended feature that you could use the ship marker as an aim point, it's not a bug if it's no longer possible. But why did players have to rely on unintended features at all? Why do we have to rely on workarounds (i.e. zooming out) now? Why can't we simply have a crosshair in the center of the screen as an INTENDED feature?
