The changes in the ratting system are horrible. Many players rely on ratting to generate isk. At this point ratting is so broken it is not even worth bothering with it. The old system was fine. I mine so it does not really effect me but it is huge for those players that don't want to be miners. I can't believe the change made it off the test server. Merkin, the other pubic hair wig |

Broken? I wait and extra 10 seconds and get better rats than ever before!
If you sit in a belt for a few seconds, they warp in. If your having a different problem, you'll need to state the problem, as a vague "Fix Itz!!!11" helps noone. ______________________________________

ratting is broken in drone space, i guess it depends were you rat. But right now it takes forever to chase down a rat as they are moving faster with you...even with the aid of a mwd... to make ratting profiable, you need to be quick and efficent, and it is now no longer either. bad bad bad

Umm .. does this thread or any posts in it - actually specify what is wrong with ratting?
I seem to be missing the substance but not the whine.

do we have to have several topics on evry subject? You could maybe try reading a few other posts before hitting the new topic button! There is at least one post on the front page alone with a blue reply!

cause if you look below there is another thread about the broken ratting :) but a quick re-cap if you are in drone space (I don't know about others) but the battleship rats (the only ones worth killing) are running away everytime you lock at 2km/s roughly. That and they are now very very few and far inbetween makes it almost impossible to make a living ratting anymore. I have never complained about any nerfs before ( i was there for the first missile nerf) but this one sucks big style, and really needs fixing...

Edited by: Riku Ayasewa on 18/03/2009 12:50:29 Ok this is why ratting is broken.
1) Rats don't chain anymore. 2) BB's move off at incredible rates of speed in all directions.
It takes well over 100% longer to generate income under new ratting system while mining has stayed the same or even improved as its easier to tank belts under the broken new system.
That specific enough for ya? What I find unbelievable is that anyone responding to this post was moronic enough not to know the current state of affairs with the new ratting system but felt free to inject comments like please be specific.

1) Rats still chain, I did a test last night after reading all the whinging on here. After my first run through the belts, I went through again and was bumping into the frigates that were left from the BS spawns I had killed - chaining works still, this "issue" is unfounded.
2) BS's sometimes bump when they come out of warp, they'll speed off at 700m/s or sometimes a little quicker, then come to a stop and start moving towards you. Not MWD bug. Been back in the game nearly a month and although I don't rat much I have yet to see the mwd bug only bs's bumping since the warpin change in the latest patch. I have not seen a bs fly further that 10km from where it warped in yet, but I have seen numerous ones bumping 5-10km off their starting position.
I spent a couple hours ratting last night and have seen none of the problems mentioned in this thread, is this confined to a specific region because I'm calling rubbish and misunderstanding of mechanics at the moment. My income was about as I'd expect from the time I spent ratting.
As to the "it takes 100% longer to generate income" comment, that is also utter rubbish, you have to wait an extra 5-10 seconds extra per belt max for the rats to warp in, I fail to see how this relates to a 100% increase in the time for ratting, unless all you're killing is frigate spawns. Yes 100% is incorrect and a big overstatement. After a week of ratting I would say that the waiting in belts 5-10secs every belt probably equals about a 20% drop in income for ratting until you get the system fully chained. Still however quite significant. Perhaps there is another strategy? |

Maybe 1 in 10 belts i have to wait a few seconds before they warp in, neglectable. Then add that they boosted the rats in lower end 0.0, and i make more isk per hour. |

The point being that you have to wait for those seconds (I count to 10, but even then I quite often warp out just as ships are entering fnnnr) in every single belt, even the ones where no rats will spawn because you have no way of telling. Once system is chained it isn't a problem, but before that it does affect the amount of income generated.
The new warping in is great for immersion, much better than before, just wish that it didn't affect my isk generation :)

I went wandering round a couple of 0.1 systems to have a look what spawned for a friend who was working. I was the only one in system. The same spawn followed me around the belts - couple of Angel frigates, then BCs and so on. I didn't see much of a problem to be honest if you find a quiet system.
In terms of actual gameplay its better. In terms of ISK generation it is probably worse, but you have shiny new wormholes to go earn iskies and inflation IS an issue in Eve now so....
Adapt.

I regularly see rogue drone battleships zooming off at around 2000+ m/s until they are like 100-150KM away regardless of whether you get a shot off on them and they lock you. I think they are warping in on top of each other or on top of asteroids and getting superbumped. I've seen it occasionally before apoc but the new rat warp in must be opening up more possibilities for it to happen because it is horrible ratting in drone regions now. |

It has deffinetly gotten worse. Less rats in 0.0, With wormholes in low and high sec, missions being safer in high sec and mining being safer in high sec I am now also in high sec to make money.

People rat in the drone regions? I honestly have no idea why you would want that space.

0.0 ratting in the lower end 0.0 systems has improved quite a bit. Long range ratting ship sometimes have to wait a few seconds, big deal. Short range ones can just allready start mwd'ing into range. ---------------------------------------------

The main problem is that the ratting macros now longer work because they immediately detect the belts as empty, and warp warp away.
