Is it possible for a wormhole to "spawn" in deep space? OR Is it possible for a wormhole system to have no exit? I'm currently in a wormhole system that I got to via another wormhole which was also in a wormhole space system. The exit closed after a day and now there is no way out. I have put a 32au and 64au probe on the system making sure to get coverage over every planet and I come up with 13 cosmic signatures, which I have probed down, visited and bookmarked. As far as I can tell there is no exit in this system unless it's in deep space. |

I am yet to find a system with no exit. I have been logging off in w-spaces since the Apoc came out just to test if I can get locked out, and was always able to find a way out. All signatures I've come across in around 20 w-spaces I've visited were within the radius of 4-5 AU of a planet. It's is possible the exit was collapsed before you found it, and a new exit won't form until downtime. *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. I've been here for 2 downtimes now. Nothing has popped up yet... o_O |

It is difficult to make assumptions with so little relative data (20/2500?). Based on what you said, it's also possible that wormholes don't necessarily spawn on every downtime, since it's highly unlikely that someone always found a wormhole leading in your system and collapsed it before you could get out. It's also possible you missed a signature, although being stuck there for two days, you probably scanned them all down twice over.... Third time is the charm? *-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^*-*^-^ By the way, I am an Ishtar and T2 sentries fan. Fight to make the sentry damage rig work for all drones. |

Edited by: Venkul Mul on 14/03/2009 22:56:38 If you find no exit from a wormhole you can petition. The GM have a system to check if your system has really no exit.
If that happens it is a bug and you will be helped, if not at least you will know that there is a exit.
Please don't abuse this.

After 2 days of trying I don't think it will be an abuse, but I hope people will not ask for a GM intervention after 2 hours of trying.

Edited by: Matterick Boon on 14/03/2009 23:25:46 Thanks for that idea. I submitted a petition and they actually replied very fast. But according to them there is a wormhole here so I guess I'll have to revisit each of these signatures.
EDIT: Actually, i just did a scan and there are now 14 results. So this exit was not here before. o_O |

Edited by: Vorick on 16/03/2009 22:51:11 The exact same thing happened to me. I logged out in a wormhole system, and the next day when I logged in there were 18 signatures in system, scanned every one down and none of them were wormholes. I filed a stuck petition, got an answer back in a few minutes that the GM checked it out and found a wormhole, launched a new probe (same position, same range) and there were 19 signatures.
I noticed when I logged in the next day, at first it kicked me out with the message "system Jxxxxxxx is currently loading", then let me in. My guess is the server keeps wormhole systems offline when not in use, but when a wormhole to an offline system expires it doesn't trigger the "always have one wormhole available" coding to spawn a new wormhole. When you petition and a GM enters the system to check it out, the system notices someone entering the system and spawns a wormhole. This is all just an educated guess, though, but I've heard of several people having this problem.
So until this gets sorted out, I'd suggest not logging out in a wormhole system for more than a few hours.

But what happens if an idiot corp mate scans a system, then grabs a new ship with no scanning, and goes into the wormhole forgetting to check its status. Exit is now gone, and he cannot probe...
