Stick with the game, plan LONG TERM. Your first six months are difficult. Afterwards it gets much much better. Join a good corp early on to learn the game, join an experienced corp later to experience pvp at its finest. Decide what you want from EVE, and pursue it. Decide which type of isk grind you can handle, and do it to make money. |

Well, some people like pvp, but alot of it is the social aspect and taking the risk. Trick to enjoying is to go with groups and do missions and deadspaces that are tougher than your individual ship. For the most part, it is the social aspect, changing up your ships and doing that which is crazy. Missions alot better when in a group and you take more agro, and stuff is flying all around you, and you can use a ship that is nanoed instead of heavy armour :p

1. Buy GTC and split into 2x PLEX, or buy PLEX directly. 2. Sell PLEX. 3. Join a PvP corp. Enjoy PvP-ing. 4. Repeat steps 1&2 when necessary.

I smell troll, but I'll bite.
1) Stop carebearing. 2) Fly ships you can afford to replace on a regular basis. 3) Blow other people up repeatedly while avoid blowing up. 4) Battleclinic setups usually blow because anyone can make them. Check out Scrapheap Challenge for a bit more reliable advice (if Clamdong ever gets the server stable again). 5) Learn from your mistakes, quickly.
There you go. If you are really are a pilot (who can't spell, god help you), you should know that you can't go all Top Gun on your first day.

This is a slow game, and if you're a (joystick) pilot at heart it might not be fun for you ever. The game is slow in the sense that you accumulate fortune slowly, build your skills slowly, build a good group of friends slowly, and you have "fun" within the ships that you can afford to lose.
I.E. Not Ravens, at this point. Sounds like losing ONE is a big deal to you.

think your main problem is that you only tried various things for a few days.
to make cash in mining you need to get your faction up for the station you are operating from and also increase your reprocessing skills for the ore you mine.
To get the faction you need you have to do missions, or kill a lot of rats. once you get past the L1 agent you get better drop, reward and faction gain. you need a personal faction of 6,67 with the NPC corp that runs the station to not have to pay any tax when you refine. you also need to train the proper refining skill high enough to not get any waste.
It takes time. mine veldspar as it is the most profitable ore to mine, and it is found pretty much anywhere. Refine and sell in bulk. 15 mil units or more. it will take time at first, with the small frigates, but if you stick to it, and train the skills needed to fly bigger mining ships you soon find it is worth it.
if mining isn't for you, you can always run missions to get to L3 or L4 agents for the NPC corp and then use the reward, bonus and bounty to outfit better ships. (Which you need to do L3 and L4s anyway) Battlecruisers and Battleships is almost needed to do those.
Also, leave your NPC corp and try and join up with another player run corp. there you will get the help you need, and they will answer your questions.
Maybe PVP is your game. Then try and find a corp that teach you how to fit the right ship for the job and tag along on their excursions. |

You sound like me.
My first battle I was like "wow, that was AWESOME!"
The FC was like "it's even more fun when you win"
Ok seriously, pvp more often but fly cheaper ships, fly ships you can afford to lose day in day out.
As you get better you will lose fewer ships. You'll win fights, you'll lose fights, you'll have close calls.
Basically fun comes from PvP, and PvP comes from being able to afford to do it regularly.
If you can pvp 3-4 times a week, running a mission or mining doesn't feel like a chore, you're just taking a break, watching a movie, etc.
If you mine or mission run %100 of the time, THEN it becomes mind-numbingly boring.

Eve offers many activities, try them all, don't stick all the time to the same one.
Mining is good when you can't focus too much of your attention.
Missions are quite always the same, but if you try many different ships, setups and don't use a ship that makes them too easy and just 'lock, fire, lock, fire...'. The main issue of the raven is that it makes missions easy and boring. Step in a BC and see how you fare in the not too hard level 4 missions. Pick an HAS and go for the L4. Pick an AF or a cruiser and go for the l3. Or even, pick a T1 frigate and go for some L3 mission. And run missions with friends. Yeah, I like missions even when so many people dislike them.
The market can be quite interesting also. Playing with it sometimes is really good.
Industry provides challenges from understanding mechanics to optimising logistic chain and marketing the finished items.
PvP is for the adrenaline and fun, if you can afford loosing ships, and don't mind not winning every time.
Finally, when you get into larger entities (corps/alliances), diplomacy is an interesting activity.
So, switch between activities, get rid of those you don't like and you still have tons of stuff to do. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast ! |

You don't want to be too relaxed. The more respectful you are in asking questions, the more respectful the responses will be.
Mission running is mainly for aquiring ISK for other purposes, such as PVP. This game is more PvP focused and PvE is mainly for generating ISK than for entertainment. If you find mission running a grind, there are other ways to make money for your character, I prefer trading and ratting, over missioning, other people like to mine, others work in manufacturing.
We can't tell you how to enjoy the game, only that if you aren't having fun doing one thing, go try something else. There are lots of different ways to play eve, and no one character can do them all at maximum potential. --

I think new players from other MMOs have it so hard in EvE. In their other MMO games, they're extremely limited on what they can and cannot do. Grind for money, grind for mats, grind for rep, grind for loot, grind levels, grind grind grind.
In EvE, there's so many possibilities, it often overwhelms newbies. Is there a bit of grind in EvE? Well sure I guess, in missions. In EvE, you can be a pirate, mission runner, day trader, miner, industrialist, faction warfare participant, scammer, salvager, corp CEO, mercenary, covert ops, alliance spy, and whatever else you can think up. They're all here and it's all allowed by game mechanics and GM rules.
It's up to you what you want to do in EvE. You need to find your own niche. ______________ Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn. |
