Me and everyone in my corp totalling 54 people each dropped 10 shuttles based in intelligently chosen places (where we had a mission before) in our major mission hub. We have gotten friendly corps to do the same in our and their mission hubs totalling another 120 players meanning 1,740 shuttles beteen 4 systems. The idea is spreading fast.
This is because with the new probing system, you cant tell what you are scanning untill you scan in close. With all of these extra ships on scan, it will throw off, confuse and outright demoralise a vast number of salvage ninjas. We usually get at least 1-2 mission ninjas a day strike out corp. Last night we had none, and neither did any of our friends, so early signs that it is working, this could be down to the pirates getting used to their new scanners however, time will tell.
All you have to do is drop the shuttle, bookmark the location and every 20 days hop inside it again to refresh its deletion timer.
Do the same, get the mission ninjas to earn their own isk instead of stealing yours.

I have not done any probing yet so I dont know much about it, but wont this mean people (yourselves included) can't probe wormholes out?
Or is that a different set of probes?

We dont care much for worm hole probing, and if we did then we wouldnt do it in a major mission hub where it will already be hard enough. As for other corps? They can do the same and shouldnt be wormhole probing in such high-traffic areas anyway.

Hehe... this is a good idea. Will make things more confusing for newbie salvage-ninjas.
The real "pros" will probably find a way around this though.

Suspect there could well be an issue with refreshing the deletion timer. Suggest simply placing yet another shuttle in it's place when it does expire. ---

Different probes, and different categories on the scanner. Simply disabling the "Ship and Probe" category in your scan would eliminate all the hits from dozens of scattered shuttles, while still allowing exploration results.

Wrong. The rest of your post is accurate, just remove it from the scan, but you can use combat probes to find wormholes as well. This is a good read.
Quoting the "probes"-section:
Core Scanner Probe I û The basic scanning probe, can scan out exploration sites and wormholes. It has a volume of 0.1m3 and a maximum range of 32 AU.
Combat Scanner Probe I û Advanced scanning probe which can scan out both exploration sites and wormholes, as well as ships, drones and structures. It can basically scan out anything that can be scanned (with the exception of moon surveying). It has a volume of 1.0m3 and a maximum range of 64 AU.
Deep Space Scanner Probe I û Advanced scanning probe, mostly useful for finding out what is in a system, much like the old multispectral probes. It has a volume of 1.0m3 and a maximum range of 1024 AU. -

We wil see at the end of march I suppose :) we built all the shuttles over the past few months with another 8000 in stock (which we give to like-minded corps) if this is the case and boarding the ship, docking up, relaunching and going back to the HM doesnt work then we will just start swapping the shuttles around.

Good thing you can use the scanning filters to remove shuttles (and any ship class) even if your signal strength is not high enough

The plan can still work!
They just have to manufacture 8000 ravens and nighthawks and scatter them throughout the systems. What could go wrong?

A valiant attempt but in between 174 people, several months of time and 8000+ shuttles built how did not a single person consider the fact that

This is the way to do it, to make it really confusing put a few Kronos's or Golems in the mix! This will teach those pesky ninjas!

ibTchell Even though I haven't salvaged anything in over half a year, it was pretty easy to realize right away that the shuttles could be filtered.
I've heard the idea of filtering out shuttles is spreading fast.

This thread is awesome and shows just why, as a ninja, I so love the mission bears. You try so very hard to get CCP, through the game mechanics, to take care of your problems for you instead of manning up and doing something about it yourself.
Don't want me in your mission? Then 1) mission outside a major mission hub, 2) bring someone along to salvage as you go (you can even hire me for this very purpose for a small fee), 3) the old tried and true blowing up of your own wrecks (just be careful, I will stick around until you blow every single one).
As for the idea given in this thread, I just love how much effort you wasted BEFORE knowing how the new mechanic was going to work in its entirety, you win the internet.
