Exact same info, just a more compact package. All I did was cut/paste.
Zomg, it's smaller

It looks awful. I like the actual one. Is the best.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with Omu on this one. The current one is sharp, crisp, and includes just enough space to continue growing.
The one you made takes 'minimalism' too far, in my opinion. Looks very cramped.

50/50
If you're after saved space ask yourself why the windows on the right pane can be minimized to save space, and why they crammed the drone/cargo info into that tiny space when it could be in the right pane if they removed those (completely useless) minimize bars. ***The EVE servers and their patches*** |

Well, I agree that it's messy, but I'm just trying to demonstrate a possible layout. Properly configured and positioned, the information could be very tidy and clean and very readable while consuming less space.
The OP was just a 3 minute photoshop cut/paste.

Actually if it would be possible to leave out the middle section, where the ship is. That would be the best. Who cares how your ship is looking, when you fit t1, t2 ships anyway? And that will be 90% of the cases.

I disagree. I love looking at the ship.
Different strokes for different folks. I don't like the proposed UI change, because I simply don't prefer the super minimalized view. I like having some room for things, not feeling cramped.
I understand that my viewpoint isn't shared by everyone. But then again, they can do options if they want.
But to be honest, you could lose most of the graphics and just go with text if you REALLY wanted that kind of thing. The graphics are pleasant and enjoyable to me. A step up for the EvE UI.
One more important step from 'Spreadsheet Online', hehehe ...

You can look at it, when you are in the station anyway? You can not fit a ship where you are not inside, so that ship will be seen anyway in the station screen. So with the new fitting window you can see 2x the same ship.
And I haven't talked yet about the 50% frame loss when you open the fitting screen. The module arranging (low, middle, high) is just crap. At least they dropped the useless left side.

Wow.
Different strokes, big time. I love it. It's simple, straightforward, visually appealing, and not a chart. The modules are very clearly defined, I definitely don't notice a frame loss, and I REALLY liked the left side that they took out.
I'm usually the guy complaining about cartoon graphics and the like.

the new fitting screen is really nice. its allows you to see your ship but with that extra room you also have the unfit show info and other such buttons. thats a really nice addition. though i wish they had a way to make grouping easier.

i kinda likes the "old new" system, where u could select and install modules in it wihtout having the items open as well. that way u could have the top half the screen open as the fitting window, and the bottom half as the market window. no other windows getting in the way (or behind another window which forces you to have to either reshape or minimise it just to drag the module u just baught onto the fitting)
