Somewhere in the Great Wildlands
The video feed flickers on, the picture quality is poor and grainy.
Jasuur stands before the assembled population of the Caravan in the lush setting of the Grand Qariyyah. Almost everyone living aboard the Dawn's Glory and the other ships of the caravan had been earlier ordered to attend an impromptu Majilius, or meeting.
A few foreign observers are present, having been invited by the Caravan to attend.
* * *
Brothers, sisters, friends and family.
I thank you all for attending this majilius. I am here to announce news both grave and joyous in equal measure.
As a people we still grieve for the horrific loss onboard the Dayhim Al'haris. Their memories will endure even though their lives do not. We are united in our determination that the same fate does not befall any more of our number.
Despite the pain that we must all feel, today is a day of a hope. Several days ago we received communication from The Oasis. Many of you have not yet made the great pilgrimage to the beating heart of the Thukker people but, for those that choose to, that time has ended.
Our great Elder, Baninez Yarm, the man who has led us from the darkness and across the stars has been invited to join the ranks of the Khargai. He is already en route to the Oasis as we speak.
A sudden, hushed chatter breaks out sporadically across the crowd
I do not need to explain to you all the implications of such a revered position. He is to assist in performing the great rituals of the Biodome and will live out his days as one of the spiritual guides of our people. To term such a elevation an 'honour' is to speak in understatement. I am proud to have known the man and his memory will live with me always.
This great freighter, the Dawn's Glory, on which so many of our hopes have been placed, is set for a distinction no less grand. As is widely known, the Oasis has been suffering as it's population slowly increases and it's antiquated systems deteriorate. The Dawn's Glory is to be piloted, following the directions of the Compass onboard, and grafted onto The Oasis' structure and join the great Source, Cavern and Mountain hulls. It's systems and hull will be hardwired into the structure itself and it will be subsumed within it, adding it's life support and power systems to the others.
Those that choose it are invited to accompany the ship and live aboard The Oasis and assist in it's continued health and survival. There can be no greater calling than this. For those that wish to remain in space, myself and the other capsuleers of the Caravan will be continuing our journey independantly and take the title of Outrider until such a time as we may form a caravan of our own.
The Kakhura'uta Caravan will live on, in the heart of the Oasis and in the mind of those who travelled with it. Whatever your choice, you will always remain Kakhura.
There is work to be done. Go to it.
Jasuur bows to the audience and steps from the stage. There is a mixture of stunned silence and rapture as the members of the caravan attempt to comprehend what they have been told.
The video feed closes.

The reasoming behind Baninez Yarm's elevation are known to me,and although i am much saddened by the news i know he will make an excellent Khargai. His knowledge is vast and must be merged into the tribes consciousness for future generations to learn.
Whilst the majority of the caravan will be returning home, some of the capsuleers among you have chosen to recieve our hospitality and haven and may even choose to remain among us despite the life in an outrider detachment being quite different.
This courtesy is of course extended to you also Jasuur my friend.

Thank you for your offer brother, it is one I may take you up on.
My first duty is to escort the members of the Caravan to The Oasis. Having seen so many perish in Illamur, I never want the experience of such loss again.
Once they are safe I will try and come to terms with life as an Outrider, a role very few are more apt to advise me on than yourself.
As for Baninez, good luck my friend, it was an honour to know you. |

This "Oasis"....
I've had my ear to the ground regarding this place for some time now. I'm almost convinced it's just some Thukker fairytale.

You are welcome to attempt it.
If you could ever locate the place, which is almost impossible for those without the actual coordinates, I doubt you would survive long against it's Guardians. |
