With the Dust524 beta coming the Sony Playstation and possibly millions of PS3 owners/players would the Goons get lost in the masses or could they disturb the sandbox enough to impact the game? |

I, for one, think Dust 514 is going to be fairly lackluster with regards to sales/subscriptions. FPS players are notorious for their short attention spans, and their blind loyalty to their favorite game. An anachronism I know. I just hope that if it sinks like the Titanic, it doesn't take the entire studio with them. CCP, please tell me you haven't leveraged too much on Dust 514. |

If they don't do it, I will. I've always wanted to bombard a planet from orbit while listening to the panicked cries of the people I'm blowing up. |

If the goons bother to put forth a huge amount of isk for ground troops then yes it will impact the game.

As a member of the Something Awful forums, I can tell you that goons have a presence in many many games, from MMO's and browser games to consoles. While "griefing pubbies" is always an enjoyable pastime, Eve Online is the only game where it is taken to such extremes. The single shard nature of the game is a contributing factor. I highly doubt Eve Goons have conquest plans for Dust 514. In pace requiescat |

Interaction between DUSTbunnies and us is going to be limited for the first few months of the game simply because CCP knows how much we will troll them during the first few weeks.
Once full interaction is established, frequent DUST players will have enough experience to avoid getting kicked out of the game by us. |

I wonder when CCP have to kick in their "test" connectors to simulate Dust players in Eve and EVe players in Dust when it starts to go into decline 3 months after release :) |

Dust will be ok for a few months, once a new clone of a modern fps is out only the fanbois and people who want to exploit the system will be left. Goons have nothing to do with it, it's the nature of EVE players. People will do as much as they can to use dust to influence EVE as negatively as possible. The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.
One will rarely err if extreme actions be ascribed to vanity, ordinary actions to habit, and mean actions to fear. |

WEll friendly fire is always on and you can switch teams whenever you want more or less, so I expect massive level of back stabbing. |

The initial launch hardly effects EvE. I highly doubt any real back stabbing can occur other than the everyday average team kill prick. And if the Duster is in charge of painting the target area for a BS bombardment. It relies on the man on the ground to kill his own side, not the EvE pilot, who can only choose not to fire as a way to be a dink. It will be a good while before corp 0.0 contracts will be in Dust and only then will we know how much control either side has to kick sand around. |

1) The # of console FPS players out there is staggering and will dwarf the EvE community. All of us combined would probably be little more than a blip on the radar of the DUST community.
2) You think the Goons are masters of douchebaggery? You should have heard the language and seen the tea-bagging going on in my Halo session last night. If anyone is getting griefed in DUST it's probably going to be us.

I hear ban hammer PR works out well, especially for a game that is niche. |

The ban hammer actually saved the halo franchise... at one point the modding in Halo 2 was so bad it was the laughing stock of FPSs and people were abandoning it for that reason. The ban hammer cleaned up the community and people started coming back. Imagine how bad the modding will be on a game that is free to download and play... that's actually my biggest DUST worry. Super speed flying invisible guys with unlimited ammo fully auto snipers in dev dropsuits could totally ruin the game.

I for one welcome our console playing overlords
I think we may see tea-bagging taken to a whole new level though, the future vision trailer seems to imply that we can do friendly fire to & nothing says screw you like an arty bombardment from orbit .
I doubt the console FPS players have come across a bunch of people that equal them in the twisted, evil and just plain bloody minded stakes before, so look forward to internet spaceship/dustbunny interaction (asshattery) being an educational experience for players of both games.
Epic battles with friendly fire, backstabbing and other shenanigans from both sides are ahead. War hasn't been fought this badly since Olaf the Hairy, High Chief of all the Vikings, accidentally ordered 80,000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside. |

Console Kiddie, teenagers .vs Goons. This should be a rapid race to the bottom.
Depending on how CCP launch it, I suspect Dust bunnies will be a far worse thorn in the sides of Goons than vice-versa though. Planets will influence Sov. If you thought force projection was bad before, imagine how it will be when a 2 man corp in High Sec takes half the sov in Deklien. |
