I live quite close to Moston. This kind of kid is all too common in Manchester :(
Me and some friends were talking about this the other day, and we all agreed that whilst we weren't the nicest of children back when we were that age.. we never knew ANYONE who carried or dreamed of using a knife..
This **** scares me..

anti-social behavior order.
given out usually to curb trouble makers, you are given guide lines to adhere too break them and you could end up in prison or a nice hefty fine.

If he hadn't been carrying the knife then the murder would not have happened?
The fact that we live in a culture where teens (and others) feel the (mistaken) need to carry weapons for their own protection is a sad state of affairs - I never carried a knife when I was growing up. ===================================== It smells of spoon! ===================================== |

Not necessarily, it's not like you need a knife to kill a person.

ASBO's are meant to stop people from being anti-social ****ers but instead most kid's think of them as something cool.

What constitutes anti social behavior though? According to the wiki while some of the listed "crimes" make sence such as vandalism, theft, harassment and so forth, others such as Flyposting, Whistling, forbidden from wearing golf clubs and even congregating with groups of a certain age group make me suspect that the law is fundimentally flawed and abused. Heck many of the TV and media refrences the wiki lists seems to make the lawm at least to mem to be ageism in an extreme. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

It's not the original law. They bring out a law then add bits on until it's so bogged down in its own sub-sections that it's stupidly inefficient. It no longer does what it was originally designed to do.
Most of this has to do with the lengthy process of introducing new laws. They try to circumvent it by modifying existing laws to cover it. This only has the effect of rendering the existing law useless as well as creating a sub section of the same law that can't be used effectively either.
IE: I want to convert my car to gas. Puts in a gas bottle and links it up to the engine without any modifications to the original engine. Why won't my car run any more?

In other stupid news, 15 year-old schoolgirl gives birth to twins, and the big issue on her mind (and the 14-year-old father's mind) is "We will be arguing over whether to put them in Liverpool or Manchester United kits". Also, "A total of 40,000 properties were repossessed last year, up from 25,900 in 2007, the Council of Mortgage Lenders said. The group predicts the number will rise further this year with 75,000".
