I'm using the OSX client on a duel monitor setup on a macbook pro. Obviously, the external monitor is much bigger than the laptop monitor so I'd like to be able to play eve on that screen. The trouble is when I launch EVE in full screen mode, it uses the small laptop monitor and makes the other monitor go black. In windowed mode, I can't find a resolution that fills the whole screen while still fitting all the eve window in the larger monitor.
Ideally, I'd like Eve to run full screen on one monitor while still allowing me to use the smaller laptop monitor, but if there is a way to tweak the resolution so it would fill the screen better in windowed mode, that would work too! Any tips would be appreciated!

The EvE client does not support what you say. It uses the resolutions that the OS tells it are available for fullscreen.
Os X display drivers do not have an interface to redefine the fullscreen resolutions: the available ones are hardcoded.
Dax Staz suggested using SwitchResX to define a custom fullscreen resolution that EvE would then pick up.
You did not do your homework or you'd have read about it as the thread about windowed resolutions is still on the first page of this forum.

just wanted to say, the reason it is doing that is because in fullscreen mode it displays on the primary monitor. but you know you can change that, yes? go to the system preferences, and then to Displays Click the Arrangement tab. in the middle of the window is a diagram showing your screen arrangement - so you know which side to move the cursor off. there will be a small white bar at the top of the smaller screen - this represents the system menu bar that is on the primary screen. click the white bar and drag it to the larger secondary monitor. close system preferences
now your external display will act as the main window and EVE will run fullscreen on that.
i know that's not exactly what you were looking for - but perhaps it is an acceptable solution, at least if ScreenResX doesn't work (does it still exist?) -- --- one day we're all gonna die, and then we'll see who's laughing! |
