581. Cloaky Blockade Runners - any pragmatic differences? - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
I have trained for both Crane and Prowler (and Charon and Fenrir). Its the align time (agility) that is the deciding factor for nosec travel. Prowler wins that hands down. Crane holds the most, so its good for everywhere else. Still, I have used...

582. Hauling ship progression? - in Science and Industry [original thread]
Go for freighter. It's worth it. What they mean by waiting until you need it is, wait until you know how to use it. You want to make serious money on mins trading? You need a freighter. I understand why some people use Orcas, but overall its not w...

583. AFK Hauler - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
It all comes down to the value of your cargo. The equation goes like this-- [(value of your cargo/2)-(value of gank ships-value of insurance payouts)]/number of attackers. [Dividing by 2 is the drop rate of your cargo.] If the value at the end ...

584. AFK Hauler - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
This question is asked about once every two weeks. 1. No amount of tank will save you from a gank. NONE. You make specific reference to "and 30 seconds afterwards." The whole gank will take less than 10 seconds. You will not survive. If you ar...

586. Indy, DST, Blockade Runner and Freighter suggestions - in Science and Industry [original thread]
For Jump Freighters it matters. It determines how fast you can make the next Jump. I don't have the numbers handy at work, but I believe you need between 60 and 70 percent cap to initiate your Jump Drive.

588. Freighters - in Ships and Modules [original thread]
Survivability in a freighter isn't really a primary concern. In hisec the issue will be suicide gankers. It won't matter which freighter you're in, they will pop you. The strengths and weaknesses have been listed already. I use Charon for the gr...

Edited by: Zaxix on 27/08/2009 14:58:32 Congratulations, you busted me for using the term "blockade runner" when I meant "Deep Space Transport." The term "cloaky hauler" is a common slang term for Cranes and other blockade runners .

No amount of tank will save you. NONE. Instapopping freighters is favorite pastime of pirates. Nothing smaller can withstand it either. The only way to avoid the gank is not to get targeted: so, either move in a cloaky hauler to prevent being ...

Setup courier contracts with Red Frog Freight . We'll take care of the rest. If you are looking to do this regularly for yourself, cloaky hauler is the way to go.

To be clear: you can't stop an industrial gank. If the bad guys want to kill you, they can, cargo values aside. But most of the bad guys are looking at the profit margin and the reward for taking a huge sec status hit. The formula is pretty st...
