The rules around ewarp are strange, and the code even stranger. The warp bubble being activated is an automatic process, for anyone who's thinking this was referee error. So the good news is, if it's broken in some way, it was broken for everyone...

As I covered earlier, at present the bubble is put up when the match begins. As the effected player disconnected before the match began, their ewarp was not caught by the bubble.

That is correct. If you disconnect but the ewarp is caught by the bubble, the player will be able to log back in and continue the match.
