Edited by: Eternal Error on 06/07/2008 00:46:21
Yes of course it can OC, excellent mobo. In short, FSB speed/4 times your processor's multiplier=clock speed. To OC, you can up either FSB or the multiplier (unless you have an extreme CPU, it will be capped at its default). You may need to increase board or CPU voltages for your OC to be stable. Also, if your RAM is linked to FSB speed (I believe this is the default but I can't remember), then its clock speed will go up along with the FSB unless you unlink it or change dividers.

Once you've OCed, you're going to want to stability test it. You're going to want programs like prime95 (stresstest) coretemp (unless you have a yorkfield, then use realtemp; to measure temperature), and CPU-Z to see what your actual idle/load voltages are in windows (after vdro(o)p).

And can I be the first to say: good, you bought an nforce mobo. Don't listen to all the haters. Unless it's the 790i. Then they're probably being truthful

perhaps its a good idea to look around on this forum instead.
Its full of hardware fanatics, so if you're looking for overclocking tips, that's the place to visit in my opinion. The "Overclocking & Cooling" forums, aswell as the motherboard forums look like the ideal place to start.
Its also one of the few review sites that tends really stress-test the hardware they review (and that includes overclocking) regardless of what they're reviewing.

To quote from their PSU review procedures:

Quote:
HardOCPs testing methodology is intended to very much push power supplies to their advertised wattage rating in temperatures that will represent some of the hottest computer enthusiast cases. So if a unit passes all our testing it is definitely not something to take lightly. In fact we expect more power supplies to fail our testing than make it through unscathed.
