Mmmm pie.

I have a small saucepan I took the handle off of that I use to make my pies.

Make/buy shortcrust pastry, roll out a base, top, and sides, put base and sides in pot, fill with stuffs, slap top on. Oven until done.

Typical fillings vary from egg and bacon:
Crak some eggs in and throw in some cut up raw bacon
To mincemeat and cidergravy:
Cook almost any meat, make thick instant gravy using cider/beer instead of water.

I'm not really into sweet stuffs.

When I cook for the family I'll make a nice "proper" meal, when it's just me I'll make bachelor chow such as this or pasta (Love tinned ham, basil, mayo, and fusilli pasta) and I'll enjoy it far more than anything more complex I could have made.

What you need to do is make either a Wigan Kebab (3 meat pies threaded onto a skewer) or a Wigan Butty (Steak pie in a bread roll).

Very time-consuming to make, though- I've done a few, and I'm a student with rather a lot of spare time. Preparing the kidneys is fiddly and you just have to try to ignore the smell ('public urinal' just about covers it). The last one I made had some calf's liver in it, too.

Once you're done, though, you have quite a lot of food - I tend to cook from scratch in large batches and keep several days' supply in the fridge, so pies work nicely for me.

I made a chicken, mushroom and bacon pie last week. First time ever making a pie and it came out pretty good and tasty. Pies are awesome.
