This is just to see, basically, what the largest fleet fight in EVE has been, which might be nice to be published for the guys involved. If you would rather not pass the information over then this is fine and is purely up to you.

Not to be too frank... but then who / what is your role at CCP?

The Eve-O Community truly does not care bout 3/4's of the Publishments that have been released as its usually One-sided, What we care about the most is a decent gameplay experience that does not include random desync's, and server crashes every saturday at 01:30


And the Remaining 1/4 of us get that some people at CCP are not programers or involved with the server maintnance.
The remaining 1/4 that arn't Jackholes and have some idea what goes in to programming would like to thank Ginger and the rest of the nonprogramers for ther Dedacated work and some attempt to have fun in their day.Laughing

After several days of constant unplayable lag even tho there was no fight going on most of the time in local action ended cuz leaders decided to wait for a patch to fix the lag (still)

"Fight for 1V-L" about 140+ vs. 500+: -V-, LV VS. RA (and firends), Goons, TCF, IAC, CA and KIA

LV revealed its Titan but useless lag was so bad no Cap ship killing was possible with just 140 support cuz only 30% could shoot and 450 Ragoons lagged in to make it even more impossible
As allways lag was on the side of the 1 to 4 ratio ;P


"Fight in JV1V" lots a lag lots of DD saw nothing but blackscreen and a DD ..
LV, BoB VS. RA, CA, TCF, IAC Goons, United legion, AAA, Ultima Ratio, xxxDeath Legionxxx, Pandemion Legion (sniggs) and KOS

Check old LV board and or current RA board for the stats since the Goon board with 100 Titan kills is probably to most stupid thing to try on ;)

In overall: Lag and tons of note crashes either the bigger blob won cuz more could shoot on that side or the one loging in the fastest after node crash to pick the enemy up solo loggin in.

If u wanne have my personal stats: I lost billions of isk to lag !!

One thing it probably won't be appreciated in form of a press release since that would indicate zomg 400 vs 400 can run (which as you have seen from the reactions isn't the case).

JV1V when i in dark helped lv to defend the POS was a planed titan in
most of us lagged out when the goons came and had problem logging in.
The day after server clam many of us logged in we got allot of kills then from the goons
was still in the system.

And to answer your question, the biggest actual fight I've been in is around 100v100. I've been in countless systems with 600+ in local but I wouldn't call them a fight. Not loading a grid until your character is miraculously transported to another node is not a fight. Jumping into a system, waiting 10 minutes for the grid to load, another 10 minutes to lock a target, another 10 minutes to activate guns - by which time you're out of range so you initiate warp to a POS which happens of course another 10 minutes later by which time you've wasted probably 5 hours of your time. This is not a fleet battle.

Fleet battles with more than 200 in local are broken in Eve. Thanks for that.

Props to one thing tho.
After XZH CCP managed to fix most of POS lag that happened. In XZH we had problems even with 40-50 ppl at POS (15+ minutes lag + active pos guns anyone?). There was lots of stress tests on sisi and seems it looks better nowadays (well at least 300 ppl is sometimes playable).

You should REALLY think how to fix initial lag/preloading when one fleet jumps into system. As it stands now when 2 fleets are INSIDE system (both loaded on same grid) even with 500 people it works. As soon as one side warps out and rewarps to grid there is HEAVY lag (reaching 5-15 minutes). So... bottleneck you are searching for?

JV1V definately for me. Around 1000 people in system I believe at one point, not that we could do anything much. Second would probably be the ISS/IAC sieges involving LV, MC, ISS, IAC, etc. Then the battle of Jita. Every time I jump in there it's both a battle to get into and out of station and a battle not to go pod every idiot spamming.Confused

780 in local, BKG, 300 on gate (i think) 200ish of us jump in through said gate. Other locals warping to gate or doing other stuff.

I lagged out of the whole fight pretty much, the node was brought down by CCP and i spent quite a while logging on. I started to be able to move when local was at around 200-300 i think.

Interesting thing to note. 200 V 200 man fight with bubbles and drones in Querious back in the day was playable, warping in and out etc. Had a 100 V 100 a couple of days ago on a gate, no bubbles and hardly any drones and i had 1fps and could barely lock targets.

We used a titan to jump into a ASCN system, and the system was like 300 or so. Anyways, massive lag, random ships showing up on overview, some how, ASCN was able to land a big blob ontop of our blob. Lag was so bad, I think most pilots on both sides got away.

I doubt all 300 of us were on grid. Because we were jumping people around the system trying to thin out our presence, and I doubt ASCN was going to give up a gate to warp everybody around from here to there.

My best guess, all factors considered, maybe 200 to 250 ships on grid.

Probably about 2000 ships trying to get into system. The battle was around 400 cap ships and BS slugging it out, but the fleets that we assembled were far far larger Wink

Most were stuck on jump in Crying or Very sad

I hope your intention is to fight the desync monster and make fleet fights once again possible.
Funny thing about F-T, although that is probably the most number of cap ships we will see for a long time fighting in one system, the lag was actually bearable, no desync's etc.

Strangely I am in the position of being in the 3 biggest fights ever in EVE's history. Also in each and every fight I never got to fire a shot!

JV1V (1000) - In UK Corp/LV
F-T (600-700+) - In UK Corp/FATAL (Did get to clean up lots of goons/d2 after the fight tho)
BKG (750) - In UK Corp/FATAL

The above numbers are conservative (e.g. they only count what I saw in a single system at one time. There where many others in surrounding systems in each fight)

I can't for the life of me remember the name of the system (F-T?), but it was the battle where BoB massacred all those Northern dreads back in March. They were fighting over a shipyard building a supercap and it turned out the north attacked the wrong starbase anyway.

I was in a gang of 40-50 Fallen Souls, we picked up another gang on the way (LV or somebody), ran into 2 or 3 separate northern gangs of 200+ and never did get to the target system. The whole region was lagged out and people kept dropping, then we heard the fight was basically over. Across the whole region (Querious or Delve, I forget), there had to be a few thousand people running around, either trying to get into the fight or keep people out of it.

The largest battle I actually fought in was probably one night during IRON's siege of 9CG. About 40 Fallen Souls + 50 or 60 FIX vs 100-120 IRON/MM. We kept doing hit and run sniping raids against the Northerners.

At one point, one of our guys cynoed in 2 carriers and one of them loaded at the wrong moon, which just happened to have a whole IRON fleet + POS. We had to warp in the fleet to rescue the carrier.

Wish I could do killboard links, but Dark-Rising disbanded and the new Fallen Souls site didn't import the entire database when they moved it.

No one really has any real good idea of just exactly how many numbers were on each side, but I've heard estimates of 480+ on LVs side vs 1000+ on RA's side along with their goonswarm lackies and other misc. hangers on.

The whole fight was worthless, hundreds of ships were able to infiltrate the system by logging off in bubbles etc.

CCP changed the log off rules w/ respect to bubbles about a month afterwards. One month too late to save LV.

I have been in many more though that average 50 v 50. Sometimes 100 v 50 as well. I have never been desynced. I always lag touch at the start of the of battles, sometimes for as long as a minute I have experienced a choppy frame rate affecting lag, but it usually is much shorter, like 10 to 20 seconds, and then it clears up. I have a good internet connection (8MB/Sec) and a good computer as well (e6600, 800GTX, & 2GB 800Mhz RAM).

ECPR - IRON+D2 1st try jump (+/-100) vs +500 (BOB +ASCN+The Five) Shocked

In common all ended with a lag festival with alot of people being killed without even loading the grid, or node crashing...

the largest fleet fight that I haven't been stuck out of game the whole time was MJ-5F9 yesterday, which was 165v171 according to our killboard. lag was quite bad, many of our guys couldn't see any hostiles on overview, and I desynced and had to relog but that only took five minutes and I was able to get on some mails before it ended.

BKG over the last fortnight, highest being around 400vs400 but the node went/was taken down just after local hit 770+ at highest report. Involved Tri, RZR, MM, CoW, FATAL, M.Pire, and many others i cant remember off the top of my head :)

Grid would not load for at estimate over half of the pilots involved, some waiting in excess of 3 hours with no joy, a lot not being able to get back ingame until the following day when the conflict calmed down.

I think Ginger and ccp in general will be disapointed with mine, to be honest.

Mine was the 2005 august-sept and later attacks on bob in Imperium alliance. The largest corps was Mindstar, mine, RONA, who was providing all funding of the war(and pulled it off), and VOTF, and xirtVotf in Vengance of the fallen who was the grand leader.

I had fun, mainly i met and fought Reikoku, for some reason, but all was wrong.

- We lost all funds. A thief stole all means to fund a war.
- BOB was able to warp at will trough the POSes, they was buggy as nuts, nothing worked, and fleets blew up. Also sitting in a huge pack and release 10 drones per ship and let all Imp's lag to death was done.

Our fleet was mostly a mix of all races, all types, but skilled. We a brilliant fleet commander, the game engine could not handle it, and worked then as now, and bob simply was best at coping with a bad engine.

My first though after it ended, and MNDS left Imp, was bob generally seeming nice, and a lot of members id fly with if given a chance(maybe as allies), or against at any time, but selected ppl was, and is the worst scum ive seen. They derived fun from ridiculing us, both within their corp, and without, for us. Typical "end game guild" mentality, where the end justify any means.

we later has been allies with bob's allies, the main reason i atm has not had much fleet activity, is my alliance atm is been branded traitors by bob(we basically got on bad terms, when we offered fighting for them, without anything in return at all), and since the only ra/goon block side we got any potential relations in, is guys we've no realtions to for years, and small scale fights is more fun, anyway, than 200 battleship blobs lagging each other, and cries the game dont work.

Now, if you got no realtions to Red Alliance or Goonswarm(i love both's style, unusual fighters, and fun oponents), or Band of Brothers (also a side id fly with if given a chance, and id think id happily meet them in RL given a chance, as if we become friendlies again, and Molle really do invite tenants and allies to BBQ's), you got no acces to equal sided fleet fight. And need to fight assymetric warfare, or go elsewhere to fight.

Ive seen, and received all dung and garbage this game offers, and still is mature enough to see past it, most i remember was REALLY angry at bob, ccp for failing, bob fueled the anger by teasing and acting childish, then my corp left, confused, most dont want to ever see any of our old imp alliance buddies again.

We faced immense lag and didn't even get to the target system, but our 300+ supportgang (which I as in, and support here being anything not capital, i.e. snipers and alot of Ewar and dictors) was playing hide and seek with the enemy's 200 and 100 man gangs 1 jump out of the BOB capital building system (will update with name when I locate my old deathmail).

The only real winner in our system was the Lag and we lost alot of ships to unknown damage that was just appearing without any ships nearby, mind you this was before we knew we were being owned by desync.

300 vs 300 + another 600 1 jump away and I think another 800 pilots spread out over alot of neighbouring systems.

Yup MJ has been the largest fleet fight i've been in recentley at roughley 300+ in local, sadley i wasent in it for long as some fool game me quite possabley the worst intel i have ever seen

About a month ago S-E about 300-300 took 20 min for the overview to load then about 5min a lag for mods to activate.

Although I am in big fleet battles all the time, the two truely epic fleet fights I have been in eve were the f-t fleet fight which we all know about and the 9-9 fleet fight a few months back.

Both of these fleet fights were epic and unique in that capital ships were fighting capital ships alongside conventional fleet. The 9-9 capfleet fight was also unique in being perhaps the only battle where all shiptypes from titans etc down to frigs were on the same grid at one time dukeing it out. My abaddon was lucky in having a fast grid load and lock time while most people were lagged for minutes, and I spent the vast majority of this 2 hour battle sitting waiting for cap to rechargeEvil or Very Mad.

Who knows, with a bit of luck there may be a third truely epic battle later today. Perhaps it has already started and I am awaiting the grid to load Laughing

Yesterday, in Mj-5f9, we had 185 jump into a 175 man camp. Some fighting occurred, but the result was a slaughter for the jumpining-in side this time.

I also agree with several of the posters...if you just want this info for promotional purposes, then we all need to say 'Largest was 5 on 7', cuz the last thing we need is more people trying to do 400 vs 400 man fights. To me, the complete unplayability of the current fleet fights is ruining the game.

Interesting topic.

F-T was the largest engagement I was ever in but sadly was unplayable. 580 or so in local, another 150-300 perhaps in surrounding systems.

In KOS space (cannot remember system name) we fought about 220 goonswarm at about 3:00 am eve time. Massive fleet fights at pos's, warping in and out from one fleet battle to another, dreads shooting pos's while massive fleet fight is going on in the background and all with 0 lag. Was truly an epic fight and 1 I will never forget. We had 120 friendlies (perhaps more), local peaked around 450 IIRC.

9-9 system, BOB vs RA + GOON capitals. Another truly epic fight with bearable lag. We had 30 capitals, RA + GOONs had 50 I believe (maybe more). 3 Titans + dreads + carriers all in a massive fight for over 2 hours(I was dd'd 3 times during that fight in my carrier, thanks chow, shrike and evil thug! ShockedVery HappyVery Happy). Peak was 300+ iirc.

Many other fights with the goons over the last months all through omist, but the lag was pretty bad so they dont stick out in my mind as much. The last 2 fights were simply epic and some of the most fun I have ever had.

As I have been in both ASCN and now BOB I have seen my share of massive fleet battles. I'll try to go back through the killboards and get more exact numbers and perhaps jog my memory a bit.

see he doesnt want to know the problems we had in these fleet battles, hes just interested in big numbers. CCP is all about the "omgwtf" impressive numbers...theyre probably just going to publish this in the next Eve Magazine or something. If CCP cared about the lag/problems created from the fights, this dev would have asked.

Theyre probably going to throw some of these figures into a new advertising campaign. Im not a programmer or a database guy or anything near that so I cant im afraid. The guys who are responsible for that however are doing that.

This is just to see, basically, what the largest fleet fight in EVE has been, which might be nice to be published for the guys involved. If you would rather not pass the information over then this is fine and is purely up to you.

Also was in the 9-9 & 66- fights in July where local was over 600 and we couldn't shoot each other. No capitals in these, so no fighter spam.

Unfortunately, the entire gang that jumped into 46DP also desynced and were all killed by the enemy fleet. Literally not one single shot was fired from our side. I think they all died or disconnected.

Luckily for me, I desynced before the jump in so I didn't end up in 46DP where I would have desynced and died. And also, we saved the system, and that was cool.

There was another fight in 66- a few weeks later that was something like 350 vs. 350, and literally nobody could shoot each other. When the FC asked who could see someone on overview or who was shooting, only ten or twelve people confirmed that they were shooting or could even target anything. After a few minutes, it was decided that 12 people from each fleet shooting each other in a 350 vs. 350 fight was pretty pointless, so both sides disengaged. There were very few losses on both sides.


Also please, on the topic of fleet lag, please fix/reduce fighter spam server lag, even if it means decreasing drone counts from carriers from 10-25 down to just 5. 100-200 fighters along with actual players will make a system totally unusable and this kind of issue isn't just going to go away with time or better servers. Yeah,there's a difference between how many hostiles can assemble in a system and how many actually see anything or can activate their modules.

Sure 300v300 will try to fight but there's probably less than 20% of them that actally take part.

The question in the OP can't be answered because nobody knows how many people were fighting/participating and how many were lagging/desyncing or crashing.

I sincerely hope that this question isn't being asked so it can be used in some way to promote the game.

I was in the pheonix alliance when we hit -5- and the Forsaken Empire there.
I think we had one of the 1st dread kills in game at the time, well we killed 2 dreads on that day.

The lag wasn't too bad either, but that was more than 18 months ago

We faced immense lag and didn't even get to the target system, but our 300+ supportgang (which I as in, and support here being anything not capital, i.e. snipers and alot of Ewar and dictors) was playing hide and seek with the enemy's 200 and 100 man gangs 1 jump out of the BOB capital building system (will update with name when I locate my old deathmail).

The only real winner in our system was the Lag and we lost alot of ships to unknown damage that was just appearing without any ships nearby, mind you this was before we knew we were being owned by desync.

so numbers:
300 vs 300 + another 600 1 jump away and I think another 800 pilots spread out over alot of neighbouring systems.

I'll try to find the old battlereport from our Fleetcommanders but check COAD if you want :)

150 v 150 fleet or so. 300 in local a while ago up in Tenal. Very laggy. But somewhat enjoyable even if I left in my pod.

It was the 2nd incaration of the Phoenix alliance verus -5- if I remember right, the system just before the Gurista's HQ towards empire, the name escapes me at the moment.

Were trying to amalgamate some data over here at CCP and we would be very interested to know what the largest fleet fight you have been involved in was?

Estimate of number of ships involved, which corps/allainces were involved and a bit of background to the fight and any other cool stuff you can think of would be rather spiffy.

Oh, and if your killboard supports fleet fight summaries then a link to this would give you bonus points in the new and upcoming ginger breeding program.
