But when we wake up, the only CSM candidate ready for the future is me. And the future is coming. It's coming and it's bringing with it massive changes to production, PVEing, armored Kodiak bears, attack blimps, and enough weaponized robots to turn hope into a four-letter word. You want hope? Keep dreaming. You want change? Put out your cup. You want freedom? Vote for me as CSM.

Some may say that my bid for CSM is too late in the game. Late to the race. Late to the party.

Hello, Gruss Gott, Servus people of Eve!
First let me apologize for the delay of getting this proper ad submitted. I could give you and excuse but that is just not how I was raised.

I humbly beseech you for your vote during this election for CSM.

Who am I? I am no great fleet commander, nor am I some rich industrialist sipping brandy in his Ivory tower. I am just a pilot the same as you all. Some days I am mining(on my industrial account) others I am trying to hold down targets for my wingmen(on Lowballer). Everyday I am working hard to make the tiniest mark on the world of EvE

For me eve is as much a game as it is a social experiment. Look how things have progressed over the years: Lone pilots scrambled to join corps, corps banded together to form alliances, and in the common era we have alliances forming super alliances essentially surpassing the nations where we all started in empire. From nothing we now have entire online cultures of our own design sprouting all over the universe. The complexity and organic nature of eve's growth makes it the game I love and wish to serve.

I could spout a page about my opinions on the game, and what legislation I want to pass but I won't. This is not what the CSM originally stood for. It is to provide transparency between producer and consumer, to give we the players a channel to help keep the game we love honest and growing. Even if I did have opinions and plans, what of them? For me, I only want for a strong community to keep playing this wonderful game. If this means listening to people I do not agree with, or bringing information to the table that I may not be interested in, then I am willing to do this.

What I can promise you is the following:

20 hours of my spare time per week, in addition to the time I spend checking the forums at work(shh)

A clear channel for all players who wish to participate in the governing of eve

Detailed personal reports of my findings and progress as a delegate

Cake

Out of game contact lines for emergencies

My 22 years of education, work, and cultural experience

If you have any further questions, please post here, check my website, or drop me an eve mail in game. I thank all for the heartfelt mails of encouragement I have received thus far and I thank you for your time. You, the people of EvE, are a beautiful lot and I look forward to seeing where we go from here.

Gruss
Cheers

John T.

I've stumbled over the fact, which I believe many pilots in their career has. The fact that people more or less often alter the content of kill mails prior to posting them.
The tampering maybe be done to remove unwanted pilots or to change the statistics in one way or another. As a techie, I believe that this could be fixed in a very simple way.

Say for example, that the kill mails sent are signed by GPG, which is a freeware and may be downloaded from http://www.gnupg.org. In order to verify the mails, the servers hosting killboards world need need the public part of CCP's signing key. That would show if the mails content is genuine or not.

The next question is of course how to prove how genuine the information is that is stored in various databases of hosted killboards. One way would there be to store the signed mails as they are as well as parsing them so that people may download the raw mails and validate the signature them selfs.

.blh 42
http://blh.scorpionshops.com/blh42_sign.gif
http://sigs.griefwatch.net/phpbbsig.php/h4xx/argentblue/blh 42.jpg
Please only use one image in your signature and make sure that it adheres to the 24000 byte filesize limit -Sahwoolo Etoophie

Simple question, to all candidates. If you're elected with the most votes and become Chair, will you step down from the position, and allow it to be filled by a vote of the whole CSM? You'd of course be able to run for the position again.

I've committed to stepping down as Chair before the first meeting is out and allowing a vote to fill the position, and I was wondering if other candidates would be willing to publicly state that they would do the same. It seems best to get this all down before the election, rather than waiting until after and debating about it when somebody has already won.

Talk about whatever you want, but here's a few questions to start debate:

Everyone: What do you think of the responses - are there any you're excited or disappointed to see? Which do you think is a higher priority - bounty hunter/merc improvements, or sovereignty changes(or other game changes of similar weight)? What do you have to say about the questions raised by the review of missions?

Candidates: Are any of CCP's responses going to cause you to change any elements of your platform? Are there any topics where you'd press CCP for a more complete or more satisfactory response? Do you think these responses change what sort of topics the CSM should advance in future?

First a little bit about me. I am 45, single, and have played various online type games for close to 20 years. (Feel free to insert jokes about being single and a gamer here) I currently live in Glendale Arizona and work for a large corporation in internal technical support.
Way back in the late eighties I got into computers and gaming online. Back then it was calling up BBSs and turn based games. I even ran a successful BBS here in Arizona called Quantum Leap BBS for about 5 years. Soon after the internet started opening up to the public I started playing MUDS via telnet. Back then you traveled the internet via programs like pine, elm, telnet and gopher. There were maybe a few hundred web pages out at that time. I ended up playing a MUD called Ragnarok for a few years and played it up until 1999 when a new game came out called Everquest. I ended up playing EQ for close to 7 years. During that time I helped beta test several of the expansions for EQ as well. During that time I also beta tested Planetside along with its first expansion. About two years ago I beta tested and continued to play Vanguard. Roughly 6 months ago I was setting up a Lynx box and ran across the game we all love called EVE.
I currently run two accounts on EVE. The main account is Quantum Light, and is run as a PVE, manufacturing, and exploration. My second account is a miner called Quantum Light1 (duh). I also have a few other characters for hauling and hunting macro miners. For now, I am not into PVP, but who knows down the road that could change.
Coming over from the world of Everquest and other Sony based games has given me a bit of a different point of view coming into the world of EVE. First I still tend to cringe every time I do a mission for SOE. The biggest thing to surprise me is how cold blooded and ruthless it gets on the forums. EVE players have made an art form out of trolling. My guess is it has a lot to due with EVE being a PVP based game. Most of the time it can be quite entertaining, but it does tend to bury some very good ideas under a lot of bull. This is probably one of the main reasons I decided to run for CSM..
I am the type of person that prefers to sit back and listen to the entire ranting, strip off the emotion and make a decision based on the facts and logic. A point in case it I remember a poster something to the effect that he/she wanted, no demanded that this change be put in and that CCP put it in TODAY or he would quit the game! Needless to say a good portion of the people wished him good bye and a good time playing WOW. I can also guarantee you no matter how good his idea was, CCP was not even look at it due to the way he presented it. First, any idea presented to CCP for consideration must be well though out, and worded with minimal emotion. CCP is a company, and EVE is the product that they produce. And as a company they need to look at any change put to them and see how it affects the company and the game. I am not trying to side up with or suck up to CCP but trying to bring to a point the following. Any idea that is presented to CCP, you need to strip any emotions from it and present to them just the well thought out facts. Demanding, bullying, whining, etc will only tent to get them to close their ears and eyes to what may be a really good idea.

I'm running for the 2nd CSM mainly on a platform of improving all things science/industry/market related. As a member of Goonswarm I've done just about everything you can think of science/industry/market related, and have become somewhat of an expert on how the game mechanics of that area works, even better than CCP sometimes.

I've previously started and run a small for-profit corporation within Goonswarm that is now worth 200b isk. As CEO of that corporation I have done moon mining, T2 invention/production on a massive scale, battleship production, and now I'm doing capital/supercapital production. I've run missions in empire. I've run missions in 0.0. I've participated in faction warfare. I've been in huge fleet battles in 0.0. I've played the .01 isk game. A lot. I've built hundreds upon hundreds of battleships in 0.0. I've build thousands upon thousands of T2 modules in empire. I've ratted. I've mined. I've hauled stuff. Lots of stuff. More stuff than I care to ever think about again.

The fact is if its science/industry/market related I've done it at some point in my eve career and I have an tremendous knowledge of how all of those activities affect each other. This knowledge and experience gives me a unique ability to accurately predict how changes to the game might positively or negatively affect gameplay, which is why I am running for CSM.
