Good prizes will get people excited about the Alliance Tournament...

These prizes will motivate teams and give them a common goal...

People will take risks if there is a sufficient reward...

As it stands, someone from the corporation "The Priory" told me they did the math and if you manage to win the entire tourney, each member stands to profit 700 mil isk... In previous tournaments, that wouldn't cover one ship or even a single pimp module.

I realize the Dev's are busy, but the Alliance tourney is an excellent chance for you to reward the players that will invest ALOT of hard work and energy into their teams.

Sure a job well done medal and a statue are nice (I guess), but it really doesn't appeal to most people. Trust your customers and consider giving them what they want...

Please do not take this as criticism, I only want to make the tournament better.

And for the whiners who say "omg a few unique ships that are marginally better (or not) than its T2 counterpart will imbalance the entire game!" its a specious argument, a few new toys would create a buzz around the tourney and get alot of people interested while having insignificant effects on the overall game/balance issues.
Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. If you would like further details please mail mods@ccpgames.com - Cortes

[red]Sex0r > you're bounty turns me on.. you seem like the kind

As in the past we will be offering advertising slots for players to use during the live broadcast of the Alliance Tournament finals. These adverts will be played between studio and in game feeds and will reach a massive live audience of Eve players. Simply put this is the biggest ad space available for Eve players and yet again it will cost you absolutely nothing to submit an advert.

So do you want to announce your corporation is recruiting? Do you want to spread the word about your new fan site? Or maybe you just want to show off! Read the instructions below and submit your advert!

General Rules
All video and Audio material must be Eve related!
All music and sound effects must be from Eve Online, due to copyright issues we cannot and will not accept anything else, this is not negotiable.
The item/service being advertised must be Eve related.
The advert must be suitable for all ages (no swearing/nudity).
Content must be respectable (no attack ads) and suitable for broadcast.
We have the final say on these issues - if your video is rejected we will say why and your welcome to try to fix it.

Technical Rules
1024x576 Resolution, 1:1 aspect ratio. This is very important, adverts will be rejected if in any other format.
30 Seconds long MAX.
Wmv, Avi, Mov are acceptable formats.
Video quality is more important than file size, that said don't make a 30 second long 2 gb file please.

Copyright issues repeated
This comes up every time so this will be the final ruling and comment on it.

All audio must be from Eve Online the game, this includes music and sound effects, the only exception is recording your own voice. All Video must be in game or of your own creation completely.

That's it, no checking with lawyers on copyright laws, no researching the particular clip you have used because its free for public use, not happening sorry. I know that may be annoying but I don't have the time to go through it all and trust me you're not the only one bothering me about it.

Resources
As mentioned you can use any of Eve's music and sound effects as well as any music by Realx.

http://eve-files.com/media/corp/evemusic/
http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/OTHER/RealXLiveAtFanfest2006.mp3

We'll stop taking submissions on the 4th of Feb, mail your adverts to evetv@ccpgames.com, please link to a download of your advert rather then attached files to the email.

Good luck and any questions feel free to post them below.
---------
Charlie
Video Producer
WTB: My kidney back

Tournament Slots

In the Sixth Alliance Tournament there will be 64 slots available for alliances to compete. Some of the slots will be reserved for alliances, based on the following:

Fifth Alliance Tournament finalists - 8 slots. The top 8 teams from the fifth tournament will be automatically granted entry, if they apply.
Fourth Alliance Tournament finalists - 4 slots. The top 4 teams from the fourth tournament will automatically be granted entry, if they apply.
Faction Militias - 4 slots. The 4 factional warfare militias are automatically entered. See below for how this will work.
Remaining slots ( 48 ). The first 48 alliances to sign up will be granted entry, providing they subsequently follow the entry rules.

Entry rules

1. ALL alliances (including those with automatic entry) must apply using the signup page. This page will be available from downtime on Friday, 19th December. Only the CEO of the Executor Corporation of the alliance may apply. This is non-negotiable.

1.1 At this time, a team captain must be nominated. All further correspondence will be to the team captain only.
1.2 At any time, the team captain may be changed by either the alliance executor CEO or the current team captain.
1.3 Requests from the Alliance Executor take precedence over the team captains.

2. Within 24 hours of signing up, the Executor must deposit 500 million ISK into the wallet of "CCP Mindstar", with the alliance name as the description of the transfer. Failure to do this will void entry.

2.1 If the money is paid late, the time the money was paid into the wallet of CCP Mindstar will be used as the entry time, for the purposes of "first come, first served" entry.
2.2 All deposits will be refunded following the conclusion of the tournament. Deposits will not be refunded if a team fails to show up for any match, or is otherwise disqualified.

Confirmation & Contact Instructions

An EVE Mail will be sent out to each team captain confirming entry as soon as the above conditions have been verified. There may be up to a 48 hour delay on this once the signup deposit has been paid.
The final tournament teams will be confirmed on the 12th January.
The draw will take place shortly after confirmation, with the schedule for Qualifying Round 1 being placed on the website by Friday 16th January.
All correspondence should be sent via EVE Mail to CCP Mindstar.

Factional Warfare Militias

The leadership of all 4 factions are all keen to show their stuff in this tournament. As such, the militias will be holding a competition of sorts prior to the tournament to decide who will champion their push for glory! This will be done as follows:

During the signup period (Downtime 19th Dec until downtime 9th January), we will be monitoring the pilots who obtain the most capture points by capturing or defending dungeons within Factional Warfare.
Following downtime on the 9th January, the top 3 pilots by capture points will be announced on the forums, and notified by eve mail.
These 3 pilots must work together to nominate one team captain for their militia.

The team captain does not have to be one of these 3 members.
The nomination must be presented by at least 2 of the 3 to CCP Mindstar before downtime on the 14th January.
If a majority cannot be reached, the final decision will be made by the top pilot by capture points.
If one or more of the top 3 prove to be unreachable or unresponsive via EVE Mail, the next highest pilot(s) by capture points will be contacted & announced.

--

Alliance Tournament VI: Format - by CCP Mindstar

64 Alliances will be allowed entry to Alliance Tournament VI. The traditional bracket system tournament will be done away with, in favour of a system that allows a larger number of alliances to compete meaningfully in the same time frame. A slightly modified Swiss System tournament will be used for qualifying, with a single elimination tournament occurring on the final weekend.

Qualifying rounds

The aim of the qualifying rounds is to quickly and fairly cut 64 alliances down to 32 alliances, while still allowing teams a reasonable chance of coming back from a failure. As such, a slightly modified version of a Swiss System tournament will be used. It is not anticipated that qualifying will be a walk-through for any team.

Round 1 (...Fight! )

64 Alliances will be drawn from the ceremonial CCP Tinfoil Hat at random. Based on this, they will be assigned the numbers 1 - 64. This random order decides who fights whom on the first weekend - 1 fights 2, 3 fights 4 and so on.

Teams will then be ranked by their match result (Win or Loss), and then by kill points (see points section).

Round 2

Teams fight in order of rank - 1v2, 3v4 and so on.

Results

Teams are ranked again by match results (Wins & Losses). 16 teams are on 2 wins, 16 teams are on 0 wins, 32 teams are on 1 win / 1 loss. The Top 16 are through, the bottom 16 are cut.

The middle 32 teams are sorted by points - the top 16 are through, the bottom 16 are cut. This leaves us with a total of 32 teams in the final.

Finals

The 32 teams are ranked according to match results and then points scored. Using these rankings as a base, the teams are seeded into a 32 way single elimination. Seeding will be used so that the highest ranked teams are on opposite sides of the elimination tree. It is entirely possible that teams who have fought each other in qualifying may meet again before the final.

A 32 way elimination is then played out over the two days. 16 matches on Day 1 and the remaining matches on Day 2. We end up with a winner, and there is much excitement and rejoicing!

Additional Notes

Points System

As with previous tournaments, teams will be awarded points based on the value of ships killed in each match - regardless of win or loss. The team that wins a match will be awarded a 25% bonus to points scored. The points values for each ship will be available in the rules thread.

Draws

For the purposes of this tournament, a drawn match is considered a loss for both teams involved. It will also hereby be known as a fail.

Rankings

If at any point, teams are level in Win/Loss and also level in points scored, the following will be used in order to resolve this.

1. If the teams disputing rank have fought each other at any point, the winner is higher.
2. The current ranking (W/L, then points) of the last team that you defeated. Higher is better.
3. The current ranking of the last team that defeated you. Again, higher is better.

--
