Currently sitting at around 1.8mil SP, still a long way to go before im able to be a big help with anything, but I enjoy EVE and love running missions, and would be willing to lend the few skills I have to whatever my future corpmates might require help with.

I already posted this in the "Corp Recruitment" section, but seeing as a great many corps are not roleplaying ones, and I am specifically looking for a roleplaying corp, I figured that I might have more luck in this forum.

If you think your corp might have room for me, please contact me ingame

I've been having trouble with my pod interface lately. It seems that the connect from the pod to the ship is overheating.
I can dock in ship and fly for less than 5 minutes, then the UI shortcircuit and I'm left to fly dead until I manually restart the connection.
Its a long time to be flying dead in space, for I prefer to stay in station or in planetside most of the time.

The implants appear to be fine, they have shown no sign of damage. Heck, I even got a new set of standard implants from Lai Dai Corp.
I had the latest Data-Pilot since Lai Dai released it. I had to ignore my own conspiracy theory since they worked just fine for months.
I've tried to re-install with a fan-made, gallente based Pod-Pilot, the same problem occured. I turned back to Lai Dai, they were more stable.

It seems that a liquid oxygen cooling system will help with the issue, but thats no permanent solution.
I've tried to get some spare parts from Lai Dai, but their repair stations are too deep in Caldari space, wich I'm unable to reach due to militia affilation.
And I can't really train Thermodynamics - Not only I'll need the data book, but to spend months toward the goal.

Any ideas from fellow pod-pilots?

---
Too lazy to resize sig|

A small note for those who care to read.

Pie Induced Ecstacy [PIE] does and probably forever will have spys that work for them outside of their corp. One such pilot is Battok of I Hate U [I H8] which appears to be funded by CrazedCC of [PIE] and is actualy spoken of in the corporation description. I give this warning to you freely so that you might not have to suffer from it in the future. Know that [PIE] does not care to fight when they can send in someone who can not be fought to spy for them. There are probably other such pilots I do not know of. Keep your eyes open for them. Corporations such as [PIE] are not truthfully skilled pilots, but oppourtunists seeking only to advance their claims by waiting for an easy target.

It may be easier to not give this information out. And I have thought of the possible benefit of having information to sell. But to not warn others of such devious tactics only allows them to continue to prey upon true fighters. I can't say why their corp would make it so easy to notice their spys...

Perhaps they wish it to be know to all. So spread the word of these spys if you fight them. Know thy enemy and their tricks so as not to fall into their traps.

Fly safe and with allys my fellow capsule pilots. I may be only a miner but even I have a job to do. Time is money, knowledge is power, and I have spent both to help you. Enjoy it. I do not know if I might be able to gift more.

Today I relaxed as my strip miners ground away at rocks. The occasional pirate would come in looking for easy prey and with the hit of a button, drones screamed off, tearing him up. As my cargo filled up, I dumped the ore in a can and heard the sound of money clinging away. Pretty soon, I turned home, with a cargo hold full of ore and a can floating, waiting for the curious thief. I swapped outta my barge for an industrial and headed of to the can. Fortunately, from learning the hard way, mine in sectors where there are very few people. Once again, like 95% of the time it paid off. The can sat there, undisturbed, and awaiting pick up. After a few trips, the refineries were grinding away. A few million later I laid back and took a nap.

You see, I found my peace without screaming and cursing. Without picking on the weak and politics. Hell, I even voted for a guy who has great ideals for the future and not looking to take over the universe. You may call this attitude "Unpatriotic". Well, it wasn't people like me that started wars like this to begin with. If you fight in defense for your nation against pirates, that's fine. Fighting another government, when both are doing just fine, ridiculous. All the major factions have enough for their wants and desires and still enough to help the weak, yet all they want, is more.

So where is your peace?

Years often have a way of dulling the edge of one's memories. They muffle screams once heard, they lessen pain once felt, and sometimes they even cause the bearer of those memories to drop them by the wayside. Sometimes years have a way of freeing people from old burdens...

...but that is not always the case.

------------------------------------------------

The outpost station exploded, illuminating the blackness of space that had surrounded it as it burned out.

"Enemy missles inbound. Evasive action suggested."

The computerized voice rang in Jacen's ears as he jerked the controls to the right, sending his retrofitted Myrmidon into a surprisingly sharp spin. The ship was customized for speed and maneuverability, something that surprised most of the people who had the misfortune to engage it in open space, and it had saved his life more than once. It responded to the controls as it always did, quite enthusiastically.

"I know! Shut up! I see them!" Jacen grumbled, slapping the commscreen to his immediate left, silencing the automated proximity warning. The screen on his right showed a perfect three-dimensional image of what was going on around his battlecruiser. The outpost that was his destination was gone, and he was completely surrounded.

It was supposed to have been a simple jog through a couple lowsec systems, low risk stuff for Internal Security. Go grab a Caldari defector and escort him back to a Federation base. Things were, however, going far less smoothly than Jacen had anticipated.

The red-haired Gallente's right hand flashed out to one of the two angled control screens suspended just above his head, tapping out a few quick commands to send his compliment of Hammerheads at the nearest State Battlecruiser. It was all, of course, a customized interface. In reality, he was just floating in his hydrostatic pod with his mind jacked into the control systems of his Myrmidon, but he preferred to feel like he was actually flying his ship, so he had contracted a special pod retrofit specifically for the Silver Scythe. It made everything a bit more hands-on.

The Caldari State Battlegroup was unleashing everything they had at him, but the Scythe had more than a few pod modifications going for it. Its shields were supplimented by three Tech 2 Extenders and four Tech 2 Diagnostic Systems, so most of what the Caldari were throwing wasnt having much luck getting through them. Jacen gave the controls another tight jerk, bringing his sleek Gallente ship up alongside the Ronin class battlecruiser that his Hammerheads were harrying. The four 250mm Scout Accelerator Cannons lining the Silver Scythe's port side swivelled towards it.

"Au revoir, mon ami..." Jacen said, allowing himself a slight smile as he thumbed the simulated triggers on the controls in his hands, activating all four railguns at once, unleashing a full barrage into the enemy cruiser's unprotected hull. Now, railguns were usually more effective at a good distance, the Scythe's were optimized for distances in and around thirty kilometers out, but that didnt matter when you were right up against another ship, and besides, his drones had already dropped its shields. The ship breached within a few seconds, exploding into a shower of ionized gas and ragged chunks of tritanium alloy.

"One down..." Jacen muttered. "Only fifteen to go."

The battle continued, and though it came close near the end, when the Scythe was getting a bit low on capacitor juice, and Jacen had been forced to deploy his backup drones, it concluded with his Myrmidon floating amidst a sea of wrecked Caldari State ships.

"...I guess ill let them know that the defector wont be making an appearance." he muttered to himself as he began sweeping the wreckage for salvage. The cleanup was always the longest, most tedious part of any firefight, but it was too profitable to ignore.

I am not in the habit of writing philosophical lectures for a public audience. I’ve written academic papers, certainly, but those have more of a rote format to them – theorem, evidence, conclusions for or against the theorem. This is an attempt to congeal a number of personal observations and theories, many things from my private journaling as well as more public discussions, and pose a message that seems to go rather under-represented in the capsuleer community.

Besides, why should people like Archbishop get to do all the moralizing?

Are we still human?

When we, trainee license on file and our flesh still a little itchy and red as it adopts to new implants, step into a working ship for the first time instead of a simulator and get the first tow out of the docking bay and into space, do we stop being human? Or are we people much like a regular person who gets augmentations and implants done?

When we become wealthy and powerful (as most capsuleers are), do we stop being human? Or are we really all that different from a regular person who comes into power or money, perhaps using it wisely or perhaps abusing it?

When the fragile shell of our capsule is breached, we die and are reborn into new bodies, do we stop being human?

Ah; that, perhaps is a harder one to answer. We will have to come back to it.

-

This universe is full of different ideas, faiths and philosophies: Amarrian, Achura, shamanism, atheism, the Universal Assembly of God, the Sisters of Eve, rebels, lawmen, transhumanists and so on. I am one who has taken up Ida, the faith of the Intaki people, because I wished to better myself, to broaden my knowledge, to try to better understand my place in the world. I like to think I have learned a lot, but Ida is not a path that leads one to all the answers, but a path to many questions. We seek to know our true selves and the true world, but no one can know the entire of the true world in one lifetime, not even the Idama over many lifetimes.

Question: What makes a human? Science gives us a biological definition: we are primates with highly evolved mental capacity and a certain genome sequence common to 99.9% similarity among all similar beings in the universe. Sociologists and anthropologists speak of culture, of familial, tribal, national groups, of customs and of rituals. Psychologists talk about human behavior, of biological drives, of follies in thinking that we are subject to.

Question: What makes someone change from being human to not-human?

When a capsuleer dies and their mind transferred into a new clone, what changes? Well, if the technicians have done their job right, we have the same DNA and physical aspects as a human, so that has not changed. We are still for the most part social creatures, even if the companionship we keep is not the same companionship as a non-capsuleer, so we do not change from that standpoint. The psychological angle is one filled with much more controversy. Many reports are and have been written about the psychological difficulties of being a capsuleer subject to many reanimations, the so called ‘capsuleer dementia’. But the psychologists define them in more familiar terms: megalomania, schizophrenia, antisocial behavior, post-traumatic disorders...terms that are used for non-capsuleers, are applied in the same way, and in some cases are treatable in the same way (if the capsuleer can be gotten to submit to treatment, which is admittedly rare).

On these premises, the conclusion we come to is that capsuleers are essentially human. Perhaps a better question is why do capsuleers seem so prone to lose their humanity?

(cont...)

Edited by: Sorom Ydde on 14/11/2008 16:26:38
Let me start out by saying that Im not attempting to be insulting here, though my opinion of the Caldari is not high, I am honestly trying to be neutral in my tone. If I come across differently please forgive me. I have a genuine desire to understand a fundamental question about the nature of the Caldari.

Now, on to my main subject. Are the Caldari gullible by nature? Are they nanve, or has the political and socio-economic make-up of The State made them unable to see the wool being pulled over their eyes?

Perhaps its just my Gallentean sensibilities talking, but do the Caldari really think that its just a coincidence that shortly after the CBT moved to check Heths power and challenge his authority major scandals involving most of the mega corps started to break? Can the citizens of The State not see that these scandals are attempts by Heth and his minions to undermine the authority and prestige of the surviving mega corps not under his control, thus solidifying his place as undisputed ruler?

Growing up the son of a Senator of the Federation, maybe Im more sensitive to political intrigue, but these events seem very contrived and manipulated to me and I would hope that the Caldari would not allow their future and their nation to be subverted in such a manner. Which leads me back to my original question, are the Caldari gullible?

Personally I think that their history, recent and ancient, combined with the political and economic structure of The State has fostered a climate where individual thoughts are frowned upon and questioning of authority is discouraged. This type of environment is a perfect storm for a man like Heth. Allowing him to seize power and manipulate the course of events in order to hold on to that power. Its very ironic considering his coup was supposed to bring the government back in line with its people. Perhaps it has, but to me it looks as if the Caldari have traded a group of tyrants for one.

As The SCOPE reports on yet another mega corp scandal I have to wonder, how far will the Caldari let this go?

A Judgement Reconsidered

Shortly after the midpoint of this most tumultuous of years, some three days after CONCORD's enactment of its 'Emergency Militia War Powers Act', the Star Fraction declared its opposition to all government-controlled militias assembled and armed under this legal cover. We set with notice the four primary militia corporations, those under government control, as -10 targets to be engaged by our pilots at their discretion.

We did not apply a blanket setting of -10 to capsuleer-controlled organisations affiliating with the militias. However, we certainly reserved the right to factor their militia affiliations in as clear evidence of support for a given government or faction when establishing relations and potentially setting capsuleer corporations as targets.

Understandably enough this was not a universally popular move and caused some of our longstanding allies a certain amount of concern and perhaps a little pain. Some of our friends asked us then to reconsider, others expressed their respect for the decision while asking us to be aware of developments. We have honoured these friendships by continually re-evaluating the situation with respect to the militias and particularly with respect to the milita organised as the Tribal Liberation Force.

The effective dissolution of the old Minmatar Republic and a return to a looser association based on bonds of tradition and tribe gave us cause to look again at the nature of the government under which so many of the Minmatar people are organised. Also, greater clarity regarding the titanic events of the middle of this year has naturally come with time. More information is available and the understanding of these events within the Star Fraction and amongst our allies has become greater with reflection and discussion.

Even so, it is only recently that we have become satisfied that the government under which the Minmatar people choose to organise themselves is not actively a threat to self-determination at this time. In particular, the joint announcement by Sanmatar Shakor and Chief Aeboul on open borders is a very welcome step on the part of both the Republic and the Thukker Tribe. It is this development, above all others, that convinces us that it would be counter-productive to maintain the status quo with respect to the Tribal Liberation Force.

That being so, the Star Fraction hereby publicly revokes its -10 standing against the Tribal Liberation Force. Recognising that many capsuleer-controlled corporations will have set us -10 as a result of that prior standing, we shall also be entirely open to revoking any -10 that may have come about through hostile action against us where it is set against a capsuleer corporation currently affiliated with the Tribal Liberation Force.

A moment to make clear what this does and does not mean. It does not mean that the Star Fraction supports the Minmatar Republic in every venture or even considers the Republic to now be a desirable form of social and politicial organisation. This is still a government. But it is manifestly a less malign and corrupted form of government than it once was. It is also clearly oriented towards the cause of freedom and aligning with those who value and cherish freedom. It heartens us that the Thukker Tribe fiercely cling to their independence and have in no way had to compromise on their values in coming to their agreement with the Republic. This is an example of mutual respect and a proper reflection of the freedom of association.

[cont...]

Last night after a brief break from fighting, the 32nd deployed a soon to be decommissioned Armageddon class warship to assist militia forces on patrol. This was to signify that we have returned to the fold. Our new vessels will be stronger then ever as they are imbued with the power of god, and the might of our empress.

Late last night the Armageddon class vessel "Divine might" was destroyed while fighting valiantly outnumbered against Matar loyalists. Final reports coming in from the patrol reported being outnumbered nearly 3-1, but holding the 200km area around the gate as Matar loyalist forces began growing in the surrounding area. Fighting was sporadic, and the Matar were poorly coordinating their forces. A single rupture class vessel destroyed three of their frigate class vessels which consisted of both Tech level one and two class variants.

Alas this was not enough to stem the wave of Matar arriving to the fight. Soon 11 ships more had arrived, and before the battle was over, only 5 would remain standing.

To the pilots of the patrol I congratulate you on your valiant efforts in maintaining system security of asghed, arayer, and the surrounding areas to that point.

The 32nd has returned to the fight.

I'm compelled to ask just where the hell the Jove folk went.

Yes, I realize how fanatically isolationist they are, but it seems that in recent months, what little regular diplomatic contact we've had with them has completely evaporated. At the risk of sounding paranoid or superstitious, I seem to recall that it roughly coincided with the appearance of that bright "star" thing that came and went over the course of a few weeks. Then the war started and I suppose people were just a mite distracted.

Still, it makes me nervous when the Jovians get quiet for any significant amount of time.

Edited by: Verone on 13/11/2008 13:36:09

VETO CORP COMMUNICATIONS BROADCAST
TRS/48R-PS 11-13-110/034

Subject: The Oppressive Nature Of Law

I was awoken from a peaceful nap early on Wednesday morning by my security advisor, to be amused at the recent actions of the DED and SCC.

In the last year I've survived two attempts on my life and now have a feeling I know who was behind the failure to finish the job on both occasions, given the events of this week. On Wednesday morning I recieved a cease and desist order from an operative of the DED who was wise enough not to reveal his name. The gentleman in question was even kind enough to forward me a hard copy, which was promptly put to use in cleaning away the remnants of the previous night's rather delicious mixed grill platter. I will add, ironically, that said mixed grill platter was funded directly from our "ill gotten" gains.

Coupled with this, Veto Corp's operational status as a capsuleer alliance was revoked on the morning of the 11th in an attempt to curb our rather profitable business practices and send our organisation into disarray. Exactly how the various law enforcement agencies feel this would do so is beyond me, our daily bottom line remains the same, unaffected by attempts to halt our transactions outside the SCC dominated market.

We believe on the whole that our action in Venal, the destruction of hundreds of DED scouting squadrons who probe the space of our Gurista allies, has been the main factor in the DED's choice to make an attempt to curb our growth, coupled with our continued abuse of the YC, and our lack of aknowledgement for just about every arms embargo written in the last 110 years.

To both the DED and the SCC I have the following to say :

You were probably thinking third time lucky.
You were probably thinking this will destabilise the corporation.
You were probably thinking share prices will crash, and buyers will look elsewhere.

You were wrong, and you have failed.

In effect what you have done is seperated four corporations from under a common banner, nothing more.

Our production lines still produce. Our buyers remain loyal to their supplier. Our shareholders continue to invest. Our patrons still freely come and go, gorging themselves on the finest food and beverages that the cluster has to offer, and our pilots still take to the stars twenty four hours a day.

More importantly our weapons still grace the hands of those you call terrorists and freedom fighters on a thousand worlds across the cluster, their muzzles steaming with heated rage as we give our kind the ability to fight back against the oppression you attempt to impose.

If anything your actions have brought our pilots, and the millions who serve our corporation in our facilities stationside and planetside closer. We are further united, further driven and even more determined to remain free of the draconian and overzealous rule of CONCORD.

Try as you might, but remember one thing : A Gurista has one drive. Profit.

Profit that we continue to make regardless of your efforts. By hurting us, you only hurt yourself. Attempting to apply more pressure simply means that our ways become more elaborate and harder for your intelligence meatheads in what's left of Yulai to watch.

We are not some grand army, we are not the finest people in the cluster, what are we? Profiteers.

Three years ago when this corporation was founded we slipped a knife into the back of CONCORD, abusing and bending their sanctions, restrictions and regulations to breaking point to squeeze every last zero on our bottom line into our grasp.

Today we begin to twist that knife. Lets see how much more we can bleed from the economy.

We're still here gentlemen, and we're ready for round four when you are.

Warmest Regards,

Ethan Xavier Verone
Chief Executive and Founder
Veto Corporation

\o/ EON FICTION WRITER OF THE YEAR! \o/

>>> THE LIFE OF AN OUTLAW <<<

Edited by: Tyr Cloudstone on 12/11/2008 21:54:52

After some technical difficulties concerning Strix Armaments and Defense communications systems I have chosen to broadcast the following message publicly to Strix Armaments and Defense pilots.

Greetings STRIX from your friendly Neighborhood turncoat I had tried to explain my reasons for my change in loyalty and I hoped that I may retain some contact with my friends within this so called liberal corporation. I have been insulted and barred from The Athena by hypocrites and the blind. I will show you the weakness of those you serve and Ill prove that you arent safe behind your Federation Navy or CONCORD. This is my last act of friendship towards Strix Armaments and Defense and thats to warn you of your peril.

Damith, Id hoped you could see past your feelings about piracy, I know you have been able to see past such hurdles in the past. It almost hurts that you cant see past them for me but rather than **** and moan Ill just hate. You have your warning

Tyr Cloudstone
VETO Pilot

Following the post below I was promptly banned from all their communication servers which I found most amusing, that a corporation that values freedom of speech would just prevent its members from hearing things the hierarchy didnt want them to. However, I feel that the pilots who answered my original communiquT deserve to see the further reply in kind

It is so clear now, just how weak the Federation is. I hope some of you come to realise this over the next few weeks. The others, Well you'll just be casualties along the way.
Gabriel DiCozza, the 'Ideal' of democracy is the strong serve the weak. The truth of the matter is that the strong stay privileged at the expense of the weak, while feeding the weak enough bull**** to paint themselves in a better light. I have merely taken this practical result of democracy and turned it into a lifestyle. I will stay strong at the expense of others and I will do it without hiding behind propaganda and cannon fodder. And to quote you "moderation, compromise" have never been qualities of the Federation or it's people. Those could be considered qualities of entities such as the Caldari state, their citizens are moderate to the point or boring and they will compromise where it makes good business sense. By comparison The Gallentean people are neither. They are, I am proud to say, self - indulgent and arrogant. If you are fighting for the reason you have stated above you will come round to my way of thinking before you know what has hit you.

((EDITS FOR POST SIZE AND SPACING))

Hello Readers,

3 Weeks into the post pirate faction era, conflict in the Empire/Republic front has settle into plex warfare. Both sides have adapted tactics which are designed to evade slow and bulky pirate ships fitted to tank sentry guns.

For the Republic, an influx of pilots and new corporation into the militia has re-invigorated their resolve. A counter plexing team was formed backed by financial incentive from EM. This team has begun a two front campaign putting the entire Amarrian low sec into constant contention while defending against Empires Metropolis Campaign.

For the Empire, the initial push to contest Metropolis and capture Kourmonen has stalled. The new Republic offensive and the lost of Slacker and Armada from the militia has put the Empire team on triple duty. Losses are climbing on the Empire side with so far nothing to show. Still the pilots the Empire are confident that with faith and dedication Kourmonen will fall.

An interesting observation, the current tactic of small and mobile gang to avoid pirates seems to favor the Republic whose pilot are more familiar with the tactic and their ships are designed for this. Although the Empire has some pilots with such skill, a higher percentage exists in the Republic. The lower number of pilot in the Empire militia also works against Empire in those few larger engagements even though the BS/BC are the same, the lack of smaller support ships to tackle means many times the target can warp off and get away. The Empire pilots are so desperate in these engagements that many engages solo without warp scram and some even fit warp core stabilizers.

Plexsanity: A condition induced by long hours spends inside the distorted space of the militia plex. Where by a need to lose the ship they plex with so much that they will engage anything.

It brings me great pleasure to announce the creation of my own, privately held, corporation. The intent of this creation is to establish a trusted name in business dealings as well as combat actions.

The White Rose Society is not intended to be large. Rather, I intend to establish us as an entity that can be completely trusted as a purveyor of goods and services, a trainer of amateur pod pilots, a third-party channel for mercenary contracts, and, of course, corporate auditing and intelligence gathering.

While I of course admit the necessity of CONCORD in high-security space, please note that White Rose Society will not bar its members from actions unsanctioned by CONCORD, such as suicide attacks, unsanctioned 0.0 warfare, or low-security attacks. We also retain the freedom to declare war on other corporations, pursuant to the Yulai Accords.

What White Rose Society does guarantee is the absolute honesty of its members. Our word is bond. White Rose Society will never scam, cheat, or lie to any pod pilot about any matter. White Rose Society will also make a good faith effort to complete any action it is compensated for, or else refund the monies if such completion is not possible. No White Rose Society or employee will ever lure, bait, or trick a client or customer in any way.

During this time of intergalactic crisis, I hope that my corporation can help bring some security to whomever we work with. May you fly safely.
