Edited by: skulcandy on 05/01/2009 22:06:31
Edited by: skulcandy on 05/01/2009 22:05:46
I've noticed a general attitude of hatred towards ecm, specifically falcons and how whichever side has the most wins. So i would like to skill towards a falcon hunter, which is why i would like to know what ship class has the best sensor strength? I would also like to know out of pure curiosity how the different classes rank in sensor strength. figure it's a good thing to know who locks faster than who.

My current idea based on little actual knowledge is a stealth bomber, i know they suck and are worthless and horrible. But i'm not looking to solo (every single argument and build on these forums seems to always be about soloing and in my short experience every single pvp battle i've been in has been in at least a gang of 2 other ships so i had someone else tackling)

so i guess in a very long winded manner my questions are how do the different ship classes roughly stack up in sensor strength and what ship class would make a good hunter of falcons in fleet battles (and please don't tell me some ship type that i won't be able to fly for a year because i'm tired of getting advice about how i shouldn't play at all until my character is two years old and in a BS) *cough* merin *cough*

Heya guys,

I first got into EVE about a little over 2 years ago when a buddy of mine talked me into it. I had a lot of fun back then, but we played mostly to duo Lv4 missions so most of my skills and equipment were based around the idea of supporting a Caldari battleship.

2 years later and I'm now back. The problem is, even when I played back then I didn't necessarily understand all the factions and how to get rep, or even really how to equip my ship to its fullest extent. I've done quite a bit of reading recently and I think I have a fair to even understanding of how to equip myself now, but I'm still lost on the other stuff.

1). I'm very interested in getting rep with any / all of the Gallente factions, but probably mostly concentrating on acquiring ships / items / weaponry via Loyalty Points. Any suggestions on good systems to base myself in and Agents to use?

2). I'm currently using a Dominix, and after sorting through all the various places that I have items, it appears to also be my ONLY ship at the moment. I want to grind missions as my primary source of income, but I'm not entirely certain I'd really be all that comfortable trying to solo Lv4 missions, given that I still feel fairly new at the game. Any suggestions on ships to downgrade to for lower level missions to increase how quickly I can get through them (Domi's a slow *****), or should I just stick with the Domi?

3). I love drones. Gotta have 'em, no if's and's or but's. I also like to have a goal to work towards, something fairly big, but still attainable. As such, I've been looking for a new ship to drool over, something to look forward to owning, but I honestly have no idea what to really look for.

Someday I hope to join a corp and maybe get involved in fleet battles, but for the moment I mostly would like to stick with soloing. I had considered working towards an Ishtar, given that it seems to be a drone-users wet-dream, but how powerful are HAC's when it comes right down to it? Am I better off in my Domi as far as sheer destructive potential goes? Or more specifically I suppose, do I reasonably have a shot at soloing Lv4 missions in an Ishtar, or no way in hell? Or is there some other ship out there that more suits my needs that I have completely overlooked?

4). Slavaging. I've gathered that you can now equip things on your ships and salvage the wreckages of ships you've destroyed, but what does that get you? Raw materials, or items or what?

5). I would really like to work towards being able to build my own ships someday, but I honestly haven't a clue where or how to start. Its been so long since I went through my tutorial, I really don't remember how to get into the 'crafting' aspect of the game (assuming that was even covered way-back-when). Any tips / suggestions or brief overviews?

6). I've noticed things on my ships called "Upgrade Hardpoints" or something similar. What do these do?

7). Worse-case scenario time. Say I decide to get ballsy someday and wander over into 0.0 space to hunt pirates, but instead get waylaid by players more interested in my hide than anything else. What sorts of ship mods should I have equipped to be able to get out of a sticky situation like that (given that fighting is probably not an option)? I know they can warp scramble me, or web me, but I'm unsure what I might use to counter that, if its even possible.

I feel like I'm sort of in this limbo of generally knowing what I want, but having no idea of any of the specifics on how to get it, and I don't like it.

Thanks!

-Shad

I spent a couple of weeks doing level one missions for gallente federation (i'm an intaki myself).

I recently have moved to caldari space to do lvl 1 missions for Caldari Navy. My standing towards Gallente was 0.23.

I haven't yet done a storyline mission for Caldari. But I have faced off against gallente pilots in a bunch of missions.

It seems, though, that after I complete the missions and turn them in, my faction standing towards gallente does not go down all that much. But, when I sell the gallente dog tags on the market, I take a huge hit. I just sold 40 or so midshipmen tags, and my gallente standing dropped about .25 points.

Is this normal?
